While speaking about the vaccination rates in New South Wales, Australian chief health officer Kerry Chant expressed optimism that they’d soon reach a 90 percent vaccination rate for the 16 and over population. Even still, however, she quickly poured cold water on the idea of life returning to normal ever again.
"We will not be going back to pre-COVID levels. We are always going to have to be mindful that COVID exists," she said. "We're going to have to engage with booster shots, we're going to have to engage with advice from time to time when we see outbreaks. We're going to have to respond, so it's not going to go back to normal, we can't deny that we have to live with COVID."

The comments came after violent protests over vaccine mandates for the construction industry rocked Melbourne, Victoria.
Australia has taken some of the most extreme measures against Covid-19, severely curtailing citizens’ freedoms by restricting interstate travel, setting up detention camps, going after booze, creating Orwellian apps to track Covid compliance, and more. Some liberal writers in the U.S. have wondered if Australia can even call itself a democracy anymore.

Denmark lifted all Covid restrictions earlier this month, celebrating a “whole new era,” while Sweden removed most remaining pandemic restrictions. Norway also ended them, with Prime Minister Erna Solberg declaring, “the time has come to return to a normal daily life.”
Seems like a true call to action, from my perspective.

Well, it is....except the Aussies don't have a way to fight back. If they try anything, those that have power (and the weaponry to back it up) will quash any uprising in short order. I can't see any outcome that does not involve massive death...on either side.

I agree that election manipulation at the higher levels is a serious problem. But solving this problem also starts at the bottom of the political pipeline. School Boards, City Counsel members, Mayors, State Reps & Senators....
But the pessimist in me suggests it’s too late to purge the lines from the bottom up.

While Aussies are starting to push back against this tyranny, I cannot understand why there is not open rebellion. Already citizens are being shot with rubber bullets for defying the authorities and I could see a nervous police officer or member of the military open fire with real bullets. How would Aussie citizens respond to that?
My brother in law is an Aussie and is trying to get back home after being stranded in the States for most of a year. Despite being vaccinated he is expecting to be under virtual arrest on his return spending two weeks in a government “hotel” and not being allowed to leave and with all meals brought in. He will have to pay for the cost of his confinement. On release he will be under virtual house arrest.
I think it is worth noting that in Australia only the police, the military and criminals have guns. This shows the wisdom of our FoundingFathers giving us the Second Amendment

It’s as though they believe their own “fear BS”. The Australian people must decide if they want freedom or not, giving these people an inch means they’ll take a light year. The second the government says “never going back to normal” should be the trigger for revolt. You must let them know they have no such authority.
IMO I only believe governments should issue “emergency recommendations”. This whole thing has revealed that allowing a government to enact “temporary emergency powers” is a truly dangerous path that inevitably leads to tyranny. Once they have the power they just can’t let it go. Biden is instituting all of Bernie Sanders’ policies through “COVID emergency” funds, so the politics will not allow this to die, they’ve side stepped law with this excuse.

It really comes down to, has the education system brainwashed enough of the population to embrace dictatorship? Australia has a surprising percentage of the population who support the governments action. So does this country. As governments assess their advance on their control of the populations, they are only concerned with gauging the amount of resistance.
The flu has always killed far more people. This is about their power grab and not medicine.
