Wyoming lawmaker Liz Cheney said many GOP lawmakers in the House and Senate have approached her privately and cheered her on in her fight against former President Donald Trump.
Appearing on "60 Minutes" with CBS host Lesley Stahl, Cheney said she had received encouragement from "a lot" of GOP lawmakers.
"Have members of Congress, Republicans, come up to you privately and whispered in your ear, 'Way to go, Liz,' and encouraged you, but won't come forward and say that publicly?" Stahl asked Cheney.
"The argument that you often hear is that if you do something that is perceived as against Trump that, you know, you'll put yourself in political peril," Cheney told Stahl. "And that's a self-fulfilling prophesy because if Republican leaders don't stand up and condemn what happened then, the voices in the party that are so dangerous will only get louder and stronger."

And this is likely true.
But the MINUTE they VOTE along the lines of their moderate-liberal leanings, they know they're out!
And that's our check to their power.
They don't like that very much, and they want to limit or eliminate our influence on their votes or their positions.
This is the battle we're in.
Probably the only truth she’s spoken in 2021.
Hiding behind nameless people. Just when I thought she couldn’t get more cowardly.
I believe her. The Uniparty is cheering her on.
Like the 135 Republicans that just voted with the democrats for a Red Flag law.
That includes Rep. M. Waltz R-FL6 whom Mr. Trump just endorsed.
No way does Mr. Waltz get my vote come 2022.
What a setup question, lol. I bet Cheney’s assistants are working furiously with the media to get her on all the shows so she can talk tough about Trump. And what does the GOP have to condemn? RINOs were falling all over themselves apologizing 24/7 for January 6th. What is this POS whining about now?
Evil people cheering you on, YOU GO GIRL!
Maybe she heard those turtles in Jeb’s pocket?
I’m done with the Republicants. They should be screaming for the Traitor in Chief to resign.
Rats cheering on other rats. Even thieves have a code.
I have no doubt she is correct. I am pretty sure I can name most of them.
Great, name names and prove your claim Lez!
Does Cheney support this?;
28th Amendment, 35 States and Counting.
It will take you less than a minute to read this. If you agree, please pass it on. It’s an idea whose time has come to deal with this self-serving situation:
Children of Congress members do not have to pay back their college student loans.
Staffers of Congress family members are also exempt from having to payback student loans.
Members of Congress can retire at full pay after only one term.
Members of Congress have exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed, under which ordinary citizens must live.
For example, they are exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment.
And as the latest example, they have exempted themselves from Healthcare Reform, in all of its aspects.
We must not tolerate an elite class of such people, elected as public servants and putting themselves above the law.
I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent, or whatever. The self-serving must stop.
Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon their states. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.
IF Each person that receives this will forward it on to 20 people, in three days most people in The United States of America will have the message.
Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the Citizens of the United States ...”
You mean this one: “”Have members of Congress, Republicans, come up to you privately and whispered in your ear, ‘Way to go, Liz,’ and encouraged you, but won't come forward and say that publicly?” Stahl asked Cheney.”
Stahl has been doing this forever. I remember an episode nearly thirty years ago where Stahl asked a similar question to a six year old child on the street to further the illusion of validity.
I had a personal interest in the story Stahl was misreporting and remember it distinctly.
Oh Liz, just FO and go away.
Well, I can think of four repubbies who definitely would have “whispered in her ear” about fighting trump (and a couple of dead ones in the tree too!) - The Bush branch, the McCain branch, the Romney branch, the Collins branch, the Murkowski branch, .. Throw in Karl Rowe.
You’ve got “more than enough republicans” to steal an election.
Stopping them from doing bad things is not much power because we cannot force them to do good things. They had all the power and ran on repealing Obamacare for almost 10 years but given the opportunity they had to admit it was all lies to fool the rubes in the base and they simply were not going to do it.
The fact that they refuse to do the things they promise and the only reason they don't do all the things they promist not to is because they fear the voters it is pretty clear: they are not our friends and allies.
Maybe she should take a lesson from these RINOs; at least they know to keep their anti-Trump sentiments private.
She mouths off every chance she gets. If she only knew how many Trump supporters there really are out here, she would choose here words more wisely.
It’s funny, really, how their denial of the massive election fraud makes them blind to President Trump’s popularity. He has the support of a HUGE and unprecedented percentage of the Republican voters - something in the high nineties.
AND, his support from independents and crossover Democrats is not too shabby either.
The only thing that drives the false narrative of Trump’s supposed waning support is the fake news narrative that he lost to Joe Biden in 2020.
But the only ones that believe that - are the Trump haters themselves, blinded by hate into thinking he is not the most popular President in modern history.
They are being fooled by their own lies! It’s wonderful.
We will begin to fight back when we support patriots who learn to wear whatever color cape they must to win in a given district.
"Democrat Good - Republican Bad" is so deeply ingrained in the public consciousness as a result of media manipulation that it can not easily be overcome...so why not use it to our advantage?
Mitch and the Boys have already demonstrated that party loyalty is a dead concept - the "progressive" majorities today in both Houses are far larger than the nominal Democrat/Republican head count - while sixty years ago, the "conservative" majorities in both Houses were far larger than the party head count.
