I’ve only eaten one “veggie burger” patty. It was a couple years ago at a mom-n-pop bar and grill.

I thought the veggie patty was excellent. My meal was a beef burger and some kind of fries, and I ordered the veggie patty with no bun or other toppings out of curiosity and ate it plain with a fork.

Even after finishing my meal and not really being hungry anymore it still tasted great. Texture and flavor were spot on and I actually thought it tasted better than a beef patty.

The waitress said it was made mainly with “pea protein” and that she really likes them also. I didn’t ask who the supplier or manufacturer was.

Ever since, I’ve wanted to go back and have another, but since the plandemic closed the restaurants we’ve gotten away from eating out as often.

Maybe I got lucky and found the holy grail of veggie patties, but I’m certainly open to trying another one. I don’t want the government telling anyone they’re not eating beef anymore though.

I’ve eaten vegetarian grub that was excellent and satisfying. A hospital where I used to work was 7th-Day Adventist and all their cafeteria food was vegetarian - the veg meatloaf was really good! Sometimes I would rather have a vegetarian burger because meat’s kinda hard to chew and digest at my age - but nothing beats a nice bloody piece of rare prime rib, ya know?

I do have a bit of a problem with Mr Beck “100% guaranteeing” that we’re all going to go vegetarian pretty soon out of necessity. He seems to take a lot of pleasure in predicting the doom of American society and culture, doesn’t he? He was talking tough conservative for a little while but now he’s back to moaning and whining. He’s a quisling.

If you want to “grow your own meat” let me recommend goats. They are much easier to keep than cattle. The only meat I have ever taken part in slaughtering/butchering is poultry (yuck!), but I knew some people who raised goats, and there are pros that will come and take care of that for you so you don’t have to get a huge mess all over your barn.

I also knew people who raised rabbits for meat in their back yard. That’s a little too hard-core for me, however. I’ve never been too crazy about the idea of eating rodents, either.

if they have to work to make a “veggie” burger taste like a real burger, what is the point?.....

Ten years ago, the fake meat tasted like poop but it has gotten better to the point I gave my wife that fake Whopper and she didn’t know the diff. I call it the food of the future because democrats might not ban beef, but they will try to regulate it out of existence or make it near impossible for regular Americans to afford it.
Similar to the gluten free market, 15 years ago, gluten free was tasteless, flavorless, goop except for the beer. Now you can buy gluten free products that are on par with the regular stuff. The flour works almost the same.

The tech is catching up to the potential market demand IMO.
