Accept It: COVID Will Be an Endemic Virus

Each day we inch toward the end of COVID-19. The end is not when cases go to zero, but rather when we accept what has been true all along. Because of multiple animal reservoirs, because vaccinated people can still experience breakthrough infections, and because billions of people globally have yet to be vaccinated, the truth is clear: SARS-CoV-2 is an endemic virus.
Over the next decade, give or take a few years, every single person on earth has a date with this virus.
Snip
Acceptance means reminding ourselves that the things we have put on hold -- dinners, parties, lectures, meetings, museums, restaurants, travel, weddings, and so on -- can't be put on hold forever. And avoiding all these activities in pursuit of health means giving up living in order to stay alive.
Acceptance is coming -- that's the true end of the pandemic. COVID-19 won't vanish as some may have believed early on. Instead, some pockets of the U.S. will continue to have caseload increases, some hospitals may get overloaded and local measures may be necessary, but the virus is not going away and the burden is on us to come to terms with that. Each of us has to decide how much life we are willing to trade to delay our time to meet the virus.

"Has my family been more careful around elderly and people with comorbidities? YES."In an endemic, no matter what you do or anyone else does or does not do, everyone is eventually going to get infected (with a 99.7% recovery rate). Read the article again.

"Be sure to read the comments, too, if you're the type who actually reads articles."
A lot of people will not be able to read the article because they refuse to register to read.
Anyway from the article:
"It doesn't matter if vaccines are not perfect or if you can still get sick -- because they greatly reduce the chance of hospitalization and death, they are worth pursuing."
Has the author consider it does matter to the parents and people that have lost relatives or injury relatives from the vaccine? Or the author does care?
It would be interesting to see how many young people who died or was injury from those vaccines that are not perfect in hopes the not perfect vaccine protects them more death or injury from Covid.
Maybe that data will be available next year to study if they do not hide it.

So this wasn’t going to be the first time in human history we eliminated a virus? That would mean all that happened was that big farma got richer. Shocking!

It means you abort or you die because a baby is dying in you. It’s not the I-changed-my-mind-about-being-a-mommy type of unplanned abortion.

An endemic isn't just an argument for the full-open Sweden model, it is a
mandate. The sooner COVID goes through the population, the sooner it is degraded, as Spanish flu degraded into an ordinary H1N1 A.
And then there's that pesky matter of a China's Act of War upon the global community to fully address...

But he doesn’t call for vaccine mandates.
Vaccines are worth pursuing and the currently approved vaccines are likely to be replaced by better working and less problematic ones (like Novavax).
His larger point is about accepting reality, which involves the unsaid corollary of rejecting fantasy. In this case, the Faucian fantasy that WuFlu can be stomped out like smallpox.

With many people being asymptomatic (or almost) but still carrying enough viral load to infect, it will never run out of human reservoir.

Reality check.
COVID-19 is airborne.
That means, “in the air, everywhere”.
It is ENDEMIC.
We will ALL get exposed..over and over.
MANY of us will “test positive”, mostly without symptoms.
SOME of us will be “symptomatic”, and a subset will be really sick.
And (unfortunately) a FEW of us will die.
This is NOT the Bubonic plague.
This is NOT the Spanish Influenza.
Tear off that face diaper.
Breathe deeply. Inhale some COVID.
Repeat.
Inhale some more COVID.
Build up your immune system.
And LIVE!

It already is. And that is all it is and has been for over a year. The response is what is killing people (well, most of them). NYC murdered thousands in hospitals in the beginning.

My friend’s wife got pretty sick from Covid and was quarantined in her home. It ended on a tuesday and, though she was still not feeling very good, the four of us went out to dinner together two days later. Heck, we even hugged after the meal. And no, nobody wore a mask.
We treat it like a cold or flu and have since last June, after the curve was flattened.

This guy is pro-vax. Well, he is a doctor, so .....
Anyway, he is a medical oncologist in San Francisco (very much a liberal, IFKWIM).
And he has this podcast called Plenary Session, which is frequently too medically technical for me to understand. But he also has episodes where he focuses on more accessible topics, such as how melanoma is no more prevalent now than it had been 30 to 40 years ago, even though ... dermatologists are doing lots of biopsies, and dermatopathologists are happy for all work, etc.
So he comments on over-utilization and how we only have limited resources that are not allocated well because of the payment incentives.
I have a good amount of respect for the guy since he uses logic in the way the MSM won’t.
My 2c on Dr. Prasad.

vaccines are worth pursuing
with careful tests over many many years to that we fully understand how they work, how they interact with the large variety of drugs out there, and how they affect the wide range of individuals.
Unfortunately, that is _not_ Big Pharma's current model.
The current model is rush it to market, bribe politicians to push it with PSAs and make it mandatory, and then blame the unvaccinated when it fails to work.
