The Ashli Babbitt shooting (2:44 p.m.) and the four minutes leading up to it are not included, an interesting omission. Amateur videos taken from both the left and right of the hall, though, clearly show that her killing wasn’t justified. They also show that Byrd lied in his television description of the circumstances.
It’s not true, as he claims, that there were members of Congress “...directly in the lobby [Speaker’s Lobby — the hall or corridor beyond the barricade] with me at the time of the incident.” It’s also not true that “Once we barricaded the doors, we were essentially trapped where we were. Uh there was no way to retreat. Uh, no other way to uh get out ah because we had did both sides of that corridor.” At the time of the shooting we can see that there’s no barricade at the far end of the corridor. The door is open on the other end, and there’s clear and protected access to the stairs on that end. We even see a policeman walk out the door and into the stairs.

Video from right side (Byrd is hiding beyond the leftmost window. His drawn gun is spotted by some persons over there who yell “He’s got a gun”, but that’s not audible across the wide noisy hall in video taken from the right side, which is where Ashli is. No Capitol surveillance videos are needed to show that, but little good it does to have that information when most of the American people never hear about it.
