Woodward is really upset that his book described criminal acts by Milley and that is what got all the attention. When he wrote it he portrayed Milley as a renegade hero but did not realize that the inherent criminality of Milley’s actions would be the prime issue. Woodward is a vile man at his core.

He was lauding him. And in the process even got that dubious character Alex Vindman critizing Milley.

“... and did not realize that the inherent criminality of Milley’s actions would be the prime issue.”

And he didn’t realize that practically no one thinks Trump is a crackpot that would start a war.

You hit the nail on the head.

Trashing President Trump was the prime mover for writing the book. Woodward lives in such a bubble of Trump hatred that he’s incapable of seeing insubordination or criminal conspiracy so long as Trump is the target. For his ilk, Trump ALWAYS has it coming to him, regardless of what means are used.

It’s a lot like the various criminal machinations that were used to gin up the “Russian collusion” hoax.
