I registered my license plate number with the PA Toll Road Authority as I don’t have an EZ pass account and rarely use toll roads other than the PA Turnpike. The toll boot camera takes a photo of my license plate, I get an e-mail telling me the tolls for the month and then my credit card is charged for them, instead of me sending in a check.
The PA Turnpike has been undergoing a massive initiative to reconstruct the entire roadway all the way down to the subgrade and road bed.
Most expensive per mile and the bathrooms are dirty with inoperable sinks and soap dispensers. Typical government efficiency.
Seems like every bridge built, is built with the promise that tolls are temporary until the cost of building it is repaid. A promise that is broken every time. The SF/Oakland Bay Bridge was built with that promise, and the temporary toll was made permanent and raised in price repeatedly, to the point that toll profits were used to build other bridges across the Bay (which now have excessive tolls that weren't needed to build them).
Slick Eddie Rendell tried to privatize the Turnpike system.
He is a crook. His buddies wanted to take it over and install EZ Pass to increase profitability.
Crucifixion was considered, but taken off the table for now, unless the current recommendations fail.

We avoid the turnpike whenever possible, but it’s not always possible. Corrupt system…
Well, good luck collecting. In the end, the politicians will decide that the policy is racist. I’ll leave it at that.
It’s racist to make oppressed people pay tolls.
Back in the day when I used to ride motorcycles to work and generally just about everywhere, there were toll roads with the basket you threw your money in and if you’re on a motorcycle it’s kind of hard to dig in your pockets for change but when you pull up to the basket just a quick look on the ground there were always coins there to pick one up throw it in and off you go...
