Getting a bigger audience in entertainment has little to do with diffrences in talent. There is plenty of talent that never makes it big. It’s not what you know, it’s who you blow.

As to why - VERY SIMPLE. THEY own the media, so we get whatever crumbs, if any, that THEY choose to give to us.
Weatherman have the perfect gig. You can be completely wrong and still have your job. Mother nature has a will of her own and be damned the people who think they’ll be right in predicting it.
