What’s going on in Area C?
That was the question we posed to Gilad Ach, director of the Ad Kan non-profit organization, and the answer we received was shocking indeed.
According to Ach, while Jewish construction in Area C has been severely curtailed if not outright frozen during recent years, Palestinian construction under the auspices of the Palestinian Authority is going right ahead, funded by member countries of the European Union.
Area C is under effective Israeli control and in the event of a future peace deal will likely be included within Israel’s sovereign borders. This hasn’t stopped countries like Germany and Great Britain from transferring huge sums of money to the PA to be used for Palestinian construction in Area C. The latest instalment of a hundred million Euros comes from Germany, and on the Israeli side, no one is doing anything about it whatsoever.
This is an old story, even if you’re hearing it now for the first time, Ach tells Arutz Sheva. It goes back to 2012, when a number of EU countries (primarily Great Britain and Germany) decided to convert the humanitarian aid they were transferring to the PA into practical assistance toward establishing a de facto Palestinian state, “without taking into account the views of the State of Israel on the matter – in fact, without even informing us of what they were intending to do.
“To date, EU member countries have transferred around 120 million Euros toward building in Area C,” Ach continues. “From their perspective, the battle is already over in Areas A and B, and now they’ve moved on to take control over areas that were designated as Israeli-controlled in the Oslo Agreements. They don’t care about that ...”

If the Temple were to come down from heaven fully formed, that would be an indisputable miracle that would motivate the Arabs to leave in good will, and execute the bloodthirsty terrorists on their way out. But until then, we’re neighbors and they’re in the Cabinet, so Israeli policy cannot repatriate any Arabs, and if we did, the Jewish children from Jewish mothers who were either abducted, or as rebellious teens absconded, to live among the Arabs would be lost to us forever. Bloodthirsty terrorists will have to be with us for a while for their sake, and because there is no democratic consensus to do so.

The international community considers the settlements in occupied territory to be illegal,[6][7][8][9][10][11] and the United Nations has repeatedly upheld the view that Israel’s construction of settlements constitutes a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention.[12][13][14][15] Israel disputes the position of the international community and the legal arguments that were used to declare the settlements illegal.[16] The “outposts” are in contravention of Israeli law as well.[17]
The following is is from my own experience.
Area A is under PA jurisdiction, and signs are posted warning Jews in Hebrew not to enter because it is a mortal peril. No such signs are posted in Area C, and Arabs from Areas A and B can come and go to Area C so long as their ID is in order, and they submit to searches when required to be sure they are not armed. Area B is under PA jurisdiction, too, but under Israeli military security.
But it’s all BS. Arabs living in Area C are probably terrified of going under eventual PA jurisdiction. The PA is a glorified kleptocracy that does little if anything useful. The “education” includes teaching kindergartners songs glorifying suicide martyrdom, and a version of history so skewed that it denies that Jews ever had any connection to the Land of Israel. Jews are ideal employers for Arabs, because they are friendlier and pay better.
“Arabs,” for that matter is an overbroad term. In addition to the tribal, clan and family divisions that divide Arabs from one another in ways incomprehensible to any but themselves, there are also Druze, Christians, various sects of Suffism and other subdivisions of Islam, a tiny Samaritan community that somehow survived the millenia, and Bedouins, who are in a class of their own. The term “Palestinian” is made up and meaningless. You’ll find Sirhanis inside Israel, but also in the Hijaz (n/k/a Saudi Arabia) Likewise Sukouris, and any other tribe you may care to know the name of.
Jews have lived here for thousands of years, off and on, despite all that the Babylonians, Greeks, Persians, Romans, Byzantines, Crusaders, Seljaks, Mamluks, Ottomans and British could ever do about it. The land does not belong to us. We belong to it. Arabs, for that matter, are fellow Semites and our cousins. Like family relations, they have their ups and downs, but ultimately, at the end of the day, there is a bond between cousins that may overcome the hostilities that sometimes erupt. Then again, maybe not.
