There is a long game and a short game going on in special counsel John Durham’s indictment of Democratic Party lawyer Michael Sussmann on a false-statements count.
The short of it is this: A false statement was allegedly made by Sussmann to the FBI’s then-general counsel, James Baker, on September 19, 2016. In federal law, the false-statement crime has a five-year statute of limitations, meaning it had to be charged by this Sunday (September 19, 2021). Consequently, even if Durham would probably have preferred to wait until his full investigation was concluded before filing indictments, by delaying beyond Sunday, he would have lost what appears to be an eminently provable felony charge. If he was going to indict Sussmann on this conduct, it was now or never....
...In a nutshell, then, people closely connected to the Clinton campaign use privileged access to nonpublic information for political purposes. They concoct it into a political narrative that they know is baseless but can be convincingly spun to suggest Trump is in cahoots with Putin. They then simultaneously peddle that story line to the media and the FBI — the latter of which opens an investigation of Trump ...

Agree. More confirmation of what we already knew, that Sussmann and the Clintons are dirtbags.
Long game, short game, whatever. The end game is that nobody who matters will face any consequences.
Who is Tech Executive 1?
McCarthy is a Never Trump dirtbag.
Be funny if it's Eric Schmidt from Google/Alphabet. If so you can be assured his interest in the job was not to serve our interests.
"In British court, Steele was deposed. He related that he didn’t know about any Alfa Bank–Trump connection. So why put it in the dossier? Well, he was told about the alleged corrupt Alfa Bank–Trump tie by . . . wait for it . . . yes . . . Michael Sussmann."
well, whomever Tech Exec 1 is, he doesn’t have congressional critter immunity on ‘it’s just politics’ so ‘the powerful man’ might as well write a check now transferring his entire assets to Trump, as a co-conspirator in a plot to professionally and personally defame a presidential candidate turned sitting President of the United States. Before he goes to jail for intentionally and actively participating in damaging international relations and the international image of the United States, and so jepordized the nation’s national security, including the lives of forces deployed around the world.
In my world anyway
Tech Exec 1 is described as having contact with a U.S. investigative firm (probably Fusion GPS) and another Perkins Coie lawyer (probably Marc Elias).
My first thought was Glen Simpson with Fusion GPS, but this analysis says no, it's outside of either of these 2 firms.
It is based on the personal recollection of FBI General Counsel James Baker - no witnesses, no audio, no documents, no written notes.
Baker told investigators that Sussmann stated that he - Sussmann - was not speaking on behalf of any client when he told Baker about the Trump-Russian Bank issue.
Baker would be in trouble if he - Baker - had that conversation and did NOT ask Sussman if Sussmann was speaking on behalf of a client.
Baker has a reason to lie - just like Sussmann does.

“Perkins Coie is “law firm-1”. Mark Elias is “campaign lawyer 1”. The “US Investigative Firm” is Fusion GPS. “Tech Executive-1” is likely Shawn Henry of Crowdstrike, although there are other possibilities.”
we all know the guilty and they know to and are laughing

Another name being pushed around is Rodney Joffe of Neustar.
