Container ships will be sunk. This is why China is so hot on their "Belt and Road" initiative, to produce overland rail routes to Europe and Africa.

In a a naval conflict it’s not as important how many ships you have at the beginning of the war it’s how many you have at the end... In WW2, we were cranking out carriers and merchant ships from our massive shipyards, faster than they could be sunk.
If we lose a carrier, how fast could we build a replacement? Without Chinese parts?

Years ago the Chinese tried to develop manufacturing overseas — first in Mexico and later in Africa — to feed the domestic Chinese demand using even lower-wage places. Mostly that failed. US based tech like Apple and Tesla have managed to get high quality out of Chinese manufacturing, and also managed to do quite well in the notoriously (original sense) chauvanistic and xenophobic Chinese market.

Even if true the US is in much more peril. We have Chinese agents and syncophants literally running the our country.
