In watching various 9/11 retrospectives in the weeks leading up to the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, I keep coming back to one thought: Thank God George W. Bush was president, and not the enfeebled Joe Biden or the mendacious Barack Obama. It’s hard to even imagine how much worse those awful days following the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon would have been without the steady hand of Bush, who was at the time just seven months into his presidency.
One documentary I watched last week has Bush recounting that terrible day, moment by moment, beginning with his routine morning jog. He described his feelings upon being told by chief of staff Andy Card that America was under attack as he sat listening to children reading in a Sarasota, Fla., school. “I’m sitting in the midst of a classroom with little kids, listening to a children’s story and I realize I’m the commander in chief and the country has just come under attack,” he later recalled. For just a moment, his face betrayed shock, but Bush quickly regained his composure, allowing storytime to continue for another eight or nine minutes so as not to frighten the children with an abrupt departure. One can only imagine the emotions that were running through his mind at that moment: fear, anger, uncertainty, disbelief—the same ones the rest of us were feeling, but with the addition of the great weight of his responsibility.
He faced that moment like a man, standing before the children and teachers at the school, appearing cool and composed, and speaking directly to the American people...

Me too.
Just think how different America would be today if Pat had won the presidency.
Gore might of came up with something crazy like nation building in two toilets of humanity.
Then, he might have passed something anti American called the Patriot Act. Even more so, he might have created two massive Federal bureaucracies called DHS and the TSA...
SHRUB WAS THE RING LEADER...HE HAD THOSE PLANES FLOWN INTO THE TOWERS....HIM AND HIS ENTIRE CABINANT AND FAMILY NEED TO HANG!!!!!!!
It’s interesting to me that in this entire thread, nobody has said a word regarding Saudi Arabia. Remember that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis. Yet we did nothing in response to their role in 9/11.
So here we see a 9/11 conspiracy theory, that the attacks were aided and abetted by Bush. More grist for the mill.
Planned under the Clinton Administration.
Executed under the Bush Administration.
POTUS Bush pisses me off, but a POTUS Al Gore would have given me a Coronary.
One other thing. All these Commentators have been going on about how 9/11 brought us together as Americans. My recollection is all that kumbaya stuff lasted about two weeks after the attacks. The Left regrouped and went on their own attacks against America and Americans.
Like you said, it's impossible to get 100% what you wanted. Hindsight's 20/20. Dubya did the best he could as the POTUS. But now he is retired, he should had remained quiet like he did during Obama's Presidency. Recently he has become more vocal and I don't like the things he is saying.
America was different 20 years ago. Before BLM. GLBT. Obama. Etc. All those things had divided us since then.
For what, like five minutes?
Exactly.
If you badmouthed W on 9/12/2001 you would likely get a knuckle sandwich. People were actually going out of their way thanking cops, firemen and the troops. You couldn't buy an American flag for months afterwards.
Contrast that with today after years of revisionism from the "We were for him before we were against him" crowd.
You did read the rest of my Post, right. I said two weeks.
I guess I was being generous.
I voted for Bush in 1992, but now I wish Perot had won.
yes I agree I’m not happy to hear what Bush has said in recent years.
As noted, Reagan has a negative on his record, with that illegal alien amnesty.
I wish we had a scoreboard, or an index, to give scores or grades to presidents, similar to how groups such as the American Conservative Union give ratings to members of Congress for their votes on issues. If we did such ratings, Bush would definitely have some lower scores on some issues, but would still be far ahead of the Gores and Kerrys of the world, on many issues of importance to conservatives.
Has it ever been established that the Saudi government had anything to do with their citizens who were part of 9/11?
This is a ridiculous parlor game.
First, it might have been better — believe it or not — to have Al Gore in there. I don’t see him as easily led into the fascist Patriot Act and all it brought to our country. And being a weak-kneed soy boy, he probably wouldn’t have dragged us into our terrible misadventures in Iraq and Afghanistan.
So no, Bush wasn’t a better choice. He was a terrible one, and a choice we’ve struggled with to this day.
Said this for 18 years now bush was the worst president in my lifetime….
Well, with the current resident…
…it’s a sliding scale.
Al Gore would have taken money from the Saudi’s like Bush did then done nothing more. Bush did not go after the Saudi’s.
Airplane hitting the tower.

When Bush condemns “domestic extremists,” he’s NOT talking about Antifa or radical BLM rioters. He’s talking about the Deplorables, about us.
He also assails the very people he sent to fight and die in his disastrous wars. He’s the worst president ever.
Actually it goes back to Isaac and Ishmael. Abraham thought he had to help Gods plan and we have been living with the consequences since
We got the “alternatives” anyways...
It just took a little longer...
