DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — The U.S. has removed its most advanced missile defense system and Patriot batteries from Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, even as the kingdom faced continued air attacks from Yemen’s Houthi rebels, satellite photos analyzed by The Associated Press show.
The redeployment of the defenses from Prince Sultan Air Base outside of Riyadh came as America’s Gulf Arab allies nervously watched the chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan, including their last-minute evacuations from Kabul’s besieged international airport....
...Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby acknowledged “the redeployment of certain air defense assets” after receiving questions from the AP. He said the U.S. maintained a “broad and deep” commitment to its Mideast allies....
...“I think we need to be reassured about American commitment,” the prince told CNBC in an interview aired this week. “That looks like, for example, not withdrawing Patriot missiles from Saudi Arabia at a time when Saudi Arabia is the victim of missile attacks and drone attacks — not just from Yemen, but from Iran.”,...

... On the military and operational levels, one issue that gives Russia a huge advantage over the US and other traditional military partners of the Saudis is that Moscow is much more relaxed when it comes to setting conditions for the use of their weapons.

And Iran will have nuclear warheads for their missiles soon if Biden renews Obama’s giveaway treaty with them.
I guess Biden isn't aware that this happened? Given our renewed dependence on foreign oil another attack like this one will send fuel prices spinning out of control.
BOOM!! (Mic drop ...)
If only we had our own oil.....
If Canada, the US, Mexico and Venezuela could get their acts together, we don’t need the sand monkeys’ oil.
If???
There is always hope....
There are currently at least 39 months remaining for this regime. The destruction will continue moving forward...
True, but we might have both houses for 24 of them.
I must say you are optimistic.
Who will be counting the votes this time?
I think it will be watched more closely.
Also, lots of minorities are pissed about vaccines.
Wait until millions get fired.
I see Yemen as a proxy for Iran also.
Through ignorance, I see the Biden group as driving other
nations right into the Chinese camp.
Even Israel is now doing business with China.
People carped and complained and denigrated anyone who
thought there was purpose in Afghanistan, and haven’t the
slightest clue they were pulling a Jimmy Carter all the
while.
Afghanistan is a place that was never going to be perfect,
but it could be a lot better than it could otherwise have
been.
Well we’re out of there. Now some of the worst terrorist
breeding grounds on the planet, are now under our enemy’s
control. The Taliban are present in Pakistan too, and now
that nation is under direct threat > IMO.
Yeah, we’ve just armed them and set them loose on the
region.
China is eyeing using the lost air base as a base of
operations in the region. This will change the dynamics
of the Middle-East. It brings China even closer to
Europe.
We just surrendered in Afghanistan, put Pakistan in jeopardy,
changed Middle-Eastern dynamics, and put Europe in jeopardy.
Early on Saudi Arabia is now vulnerable since the air
defense system has been taken away.
If someone were trying to harm U. S. standing in the region,
they couldn’t have done a better job of it.
Because, along with signing a military pact with Russia, more importantly, they will now accept rubles as well as Chinese yuan as payment for oil.
That last kills the "PetroDollar"** agreement we had with them, meaning lots of now unwanted dollars will begin flooding back to the U.S., creating an inflation that will make your eyes water.
**In return for protection by the U.S., the Saudis would only take U.S. dollars for payment, creating a defacto Reserve Currency.
Meant to thank you for your comments.
I do agree with your take on things.
I agree about 09/11, but in the overall scheme of things,
they could have actually been a lot worse. That one act as
horrible as it was could have been one of many, instead of
a one of one event.
On 09/11 the Saudis took a massive hit. Their investments in
the West tumbled as markets collapsed. Oil revenues took a
big hit also, as oil consumption went down.
The leadership of Saudi Arabia has financial ties to the
West that keeps it from wanting to destroy it.
The Saudis are exposed to Iran and their surrogates.
I think folks misread Saudi Arabia.
I do think they would like to convert the West, but they
don’t have an intention to destroy it.
It’s our own fault if we play into dynamics that do allow
a conversion of sorts, and to an extent I see us doing that
as we bring in the wrong sorts of people that will move us
in that direction.
They want control of every(where)thing.
