It was a late October night at a packed Yankee Stadium in 2001 as President George W. Bush was preparing to throw the first pitch before Game 3 of the World Series just weeks after the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
Not sure how the country would react at the time, the president’s ceremonial pitch is still considered one of the brightest moments in one of the nation’s darkest times nearly 20 years later.
Major League Baseball postponed all games in the immediate aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks. After a week of silence, games slowly resumed but the nation was still reeling, New Yorkers were still in shock.

Nah. He was just all excited because he knew he would get to play “war” with American lives.
It was his last straight throw since.
“Not so much”
Understatement.
Biden’s puppeteers are killing this Country.
It was all a pose.
No.
We were attacked.
He was a brave leader and tied to the globalist project. I still admire him personally but detest the policies he and his family foisted on America. I would still vote for him over Gore or Kerry (like the majority of people on this site did at the time)
Baseball and Bush. Two things I no longer follow.
I was naive.....or just too trusting......and believed this zero.
Yes I call him a zero now!
He lied and lied and opened wide the door for Obama!
When I discovered who and what he is .....I was.....and still am....deeply sorry I ever voted for him, ever!
Yes.
You are correct.
He led the Nation well during one of its greatest tests.
People have either forgotten, or never understood the tragedy of 9/11.
I watched the Pentagon burn. Thick, green smoke. I’ll never forget.
I hate my screen name. Count me as one of the millions who was hoodwinked.
bush gave us the DHS which is now over 250K people all trained against us. They are just another tool of the deep state and their only mission now is to exterminate American patriots and destroy America as we know it. For this reason alone, bush is evil and should be tried for treason.
He said he would go after the people that "brought the buildings down". "Soon."
We're still waiting.
DHS (”Homeland”), which had an unfortunate (and now, looking back, foreshadowed) Nazi connotation.

But only at first. Then he committed blunder after blunder after blunder.
So overall I’d give Bush II a failing grade on 9/11 and its aftermath.
Consider this. Say what you will about FDR. But he led a coalition that defeated both Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. And it was done in 3 1/2 years. Bush II had 8 years to defeat radical Islam. He botched the job, and now Islam is stronger than ever.
The glaring problem is our open borders and lack of an immigration policy. We need a border wall manned with enough police to secure it. We need to have a risk based and merit based immigration program. We also need data on all immigrants and actually know how many there are.
He did have a decent arm.
