Lies by omission: no specific approval was given and the NIH contracted the gain-of-function research to an outside group that funded the Wuhan lab.

It was carried out like a covert op for plausible deniability, but I would assume there are docs somewhere showing they knew exactly what they were funding.

They should ask, Did the NIH knowingly fund gain-of-function research on bat viruses carried out at the Wuhan lab? And the only truthful answer is, "yes."

He asked "funded," she answered "approved."

How Clintonian of her.

Taking a bat virus and mutating it so it can infect humans IS making it more dangerous to humans. She’s trying to deflect the issue of making a human virus more dangerous but that’s not what people are complaining about and she knows it.

Key quibble is her use of the term “more dangerous to humans.”

Didn’t deny funding Coronavirus Gain of Function research at the Wuhan labs. Just denied that the research made the virus more dangerous to humans.

Sounds like a matter of interpretation to me. NIH says it is so, so it must be so. Same folks that decided that vaccines no longer have to provide immunity, just “protection.” Whatever that means.

If they (our government) had just decided to treat Americans like adults from the beginning, they wouldn’t be in this shadow dance with the truth. They are the destructors of their own reputations on this and many other matters.

Because it was as dangerous as it could be in the first place.

That's correct. The research was to make it spread better. Originally it didn't spread at all.

But consider that they probably collaborated with China because the Chinese are not nearly as squeamish as Western nations in creating biological weapons or other dangerous critters. How do you expect Fauci and friends to carry on their research?

That’s not red; it’s gas-colored, like Col Klebb’s, a high-ranking member of the feared Russian counter-intelligence agency SMERSH, in “From Russia With Love”.

Is lying to the American people worse than lying to kleptocrat Congresscritters? Asking for a friend.

Bagdad Jen better bail pretty soon ... polls show that Dr Pepper is increasing its lead over Dr Fauci in the international believability polls.

If approval was required yet never given, the executive organizational rigor was implicitly negligent, to allow such a major issue to get through all financial, secretarial or policy sanity checks.

Such irresponsible behavior in a comparable Japanese organization would require sepuku probably by multiple senior players.
