U.S. Sees 'Critical' Afghanistan Role for Pakistan Despite Taliban Ties

As anger mounts in Afghanistan over allegations that Pakistan is helping the Taliban defeat the final resistance units and set up its new government in Kabul, the U.S. State Department said Islamabad can play a "critical role" in the country's future.

Pakistan and its Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency have historic ties to the Taliban and helped the group seize control of neighboring war-torn Afghanistan in the mid-1990s. Now, many Afghans fear they will become a proxy of Islamabad.

People took to the streets of Kabul on Monday and Tuesday to decry perceived Pakistani influence in Afghanistan. "Long live Afghanistan, death to Pakistan," chanted some protesters in the capital on Monday night.

The ISI started the Taliban and has been funding them throughout the time we were fighting them.

Since 2009, the U.S. government has committed over $5 billion in civilian assistance to Pakistan and over $1 billion in emergency humanitarian response.
During Pakistan’s 2019-2020 fiscal year, the United States was once again the top donor country to Pakistan of on-budget, grant-based assistance. U.S. assistance to Pakistan is always in the form of grants, which does not add to Pakistan’s debt burden or balance of payments challenges. Stupid Uncle Sugar.

Pres Trump would cut off all aid to
Pokkistan and install huge tariffs on all their imports.

Biden will capitulate.

The case can be made that the CIA and Pakistan created the Taliban and we have been fake fighting them for years. Compare the Taliban with the Huks in the Philippines created by the CIA man Ed Landsdale. So much taxpayer money went into Afghanistan, and for what?

But he didn't.

President Trump resisted, as much as he could, making war on Iran or Syria, for which he deserves a lot of credit.

But as far as the main enemy in the WOT, the Saudi-Pakistan axis - he couldn't have been nicer to them.

Gee. What a surprise! These cavemen goat-humpers are fighting among themselves as they have since FOREVER!

WHO could’ve seen this coming? Huh! WHO? *SNORT*

What a cluster. I hope the people that made money off of the blood of Americans these past 20+ years are sleeping well.

*SPIT*

Yeah— it’s a brilllliant idea to idiotically involve the completely compromised and corrupt ISI into anything involving the US interests.

ISI hid bin laden... and did it for money (if that was, in fact bin laden and not a double for killing).
