Colorado proposing a new electoral map that could oust Lauren Boebert
Daily Mail ^ | 9/5/21 | Katelyn Caralle

Lauren Boebert could lose her seat in the House of Representative as a new proposed Colorado district map moves the congresswoman's home into a more liberal district currently represented by Democratic Representative Joe Neguse.

The nonpartisan Colorado Independent Redistricting Commissions released its first map outlining the new congressional districts based on the 2020 Census Bureau data. It previously released a sketch in June based off population estimates.

The new map would lump in the entire northern part of the current 3rd district, represented by Boebert, into Neguse's 2nd district. Not only would this move a huge group of Boebert's constituents into a blue district, it would also mean Boebert's home is now located in the 2nd district.

She could still run for the 3rd District Seat even if she doesn't live there, but it's more likely she could be primaried by a conservative candidate who does.

How odd how another “non partisan”, like those in VA and Ga that just happened to create CD districts designed to improve Democrat chances at winning more seats.

Draw a box. Assume 7.345M people are scattered throughout the box. Assume that each congressional district has to contain as close to exactly 734,500 personas as possible. Draw up 10 districts...

It is a perfectly arbitrary exercise, which has almost an infinite number of solutions that will provide the districts meeting the near equality standard.

So, the boundary line drawing process is almost a perfectly arbitrary matter.

In political science, long ago I learned that the essential question is “who decides?”

When it comes to redistricting - it should be the legislative and executive branches of state government. But you have to factor in the Federal Courts and the Civil Rights act of 1964, the Voting rights act of 1965 (and their progeny.) And the Untired States Supreme Court.

It will never be anything other than an arbitrary exercise of the duly elected legislatures and governors of the various states. The Federal Government should stay out of it except to offer the census data and make sure the districts are as close to equivalent as possible (given the limits of the data.)

Colorado Democrats are good at disenfranchising voters. They gerrymandered conservative Grand County’s 15,000 population into Boulder County’s 330,000, making the voter wishes of Grand County non-existent.

Actually, the first draft was a fair map with the West Slope together as one district. However, that seemed to change after Lauren was elected. I have no inside information, but it would be a pretty safe bet that one or more #Nevertrump RINOs on the Commission schemed with the Dems to split the West Slope to get Lauren into a district that will be dominated by Boulder (CU) and Larimer (CSU) counties. It's corrupt to the core.

Recall that one of Rush’s undeniable Truths of Life was that any organization not explicitly Conservative will always be liberal.

I have long favored using a computer program to draw the boundaries, with the following criteria: The following boundaries will be contained wholly in a district as much as possible, given the population:

Counties
Cities
Zip codes

All districts would be as compact and contiguous as possible.

Not taken into consideration would be the ethnic make-up or the party affiliations. The margin on the magic number of 734,500 would be increased (I'm not sure what the margin for variance is now, but I would think 1-2% would be acceptable)

If the NW counties are added to Boulder and Larimer would that make the seat competitive? It seems like we would keep a safe seat in the SW and perhaps gain a competitive on in the NW.

Dems/Marxists/progressives just HATE free and fair elections and they hate honest representation of constituents.

The question is, why don't they just create laws and policies that benefit voting citizens, and enjoy success at the grass-roots level?

Yeah. You saw that as well, eh? But, of course, “every non-partisan redistricting group” is unbiased and honest, aren’t they.

If the NW counties are added to Boulder and Larimer would that make the seat competitive?

The incumbent has won his last two races by 26 points. This move may dilute his margin a bit but it won't make it competative.

Colorado Democrats are good at disenfranchising voters.

Democrats in Texas, North Carolina, and Florida say the same thing about their states.
