Suffered through this, thoughts:
1. He needs to stop selling the idea that we had to get out of Afghanistan. NO KIDDING Joe, what is angering many is not the intent to leave - but rather your horrible execution of it.
2. He needs to stop with blaming his ‘predecessor’. Joe forgets that as commander in chief / leader of the free world - YOU can set terms with the enemy. YOU can define when and how we leave. Instead, you act like they have leverage over the United States of America.
3. He could/should have set the exit date as conditional on events or whenever we damn well thought we would be ready. Setting a formal date set was a driver for this clusterF and put lives at risk.
4. To put a fine point on it - he failed to have a plan that got America out without chaos and loss of life. Those 13 soldiers are on Biden.
5. He should have NEVER closed Bagram, instead he relied on the unsecured Karzai airport - controlled by the enemy as our exit point. Both should have been exit points FULLY controlled by our armed forces.
6. He put America and our allies at risk by equipping our enemy with $90B of military supplies. You enabled China and others to collect our tools of war and determine how to replicate or take advantage of them.
7. He needs to stop this whisper talk schtick. Talk like a man.
8. He needs to apologize to the parents that received their loved ones at Dover.
9. He should face the press and take UNSCRIPTED questions. If he’s incapble of doing so, he should resign.
10. He should resign in shame. Not just for Afghanistan, but for the abject failure he’s been since January
That sums it up.
I was able to see some of it at lunch. I told my wife they got him all jacked up on prescription ADHD speed (Adderall, Ritalin, Concerta, Vyvanse or just plain old amphetamines). It look like he had cotton mouth and then there was his forceful tone. Even his whisper seemed more forceful. I was waiting for him to start grinding his teeth.
