I don't think it's your opinion, it's a true statement. It's amazing how many root canals over the years I've turned down and my teeth are still fine. Orthodontists are biggest lowlife crooks of them all, one thing you will never hear from an Orthodontist is "Your teeth are fine, you don't need braces".
The other worst trick you have to watch out for is when the Dentist claim "oh it's just a small cavity" or "it's a quick fix" then when you go for treatment expecting to be in and out, just after they start drilling and have you captive comes the "oh no it's worse than I thought, you are going to need an {expensive} root canal or crown".
I do not use their services and have not since I was 19.
I wouldn't agree to that, but yeah unfortunately it takes lots of due diligence to find a good honest dentist.
my x-wife sent one of my kids to the dentist, I found out 1 hour before his appointment. I told him “do not let them drill your teeth no mater what, because if they do you will have a cavity for sure”
Sure enough the said he had a cavity and insisted on drilling.
I know this crazy really old dentist, seriously he is mad as a hatter from mercury poisoning or something, but at least I trust him. he looked at the kids xrays and said “what the hell are they talking about? there is no cavity that I can see”
A few years later another kid really did have a cavity, and he got super happy when I asked him to fill it with gold. (and it cost me the same as whatever superglue and mercury crap they use now days)
