“To table” in this regard means the opposite in the UK as it does in the US.

I always found that strange how the same phrase can have two opposite meanings. Under Roberts Rules of Order “to table” means to lay aside temporarily to conduct other business. But (as you said) in much of the rest of the world it means to put new business on the agenda for immediate consideration.
