I have some doubts about the decision to strike anybody at this time.
With so many hostages still in Kabul and elsewhere is it really wise to conduct retaliatory strikes now?
I’d like to see retribution as much as anyone but it seems to me that we would be inviting some spectacularly horrifying responses using American hostages.
This is, without question, a Catch 22 of Biden’s making.
Yes. I thought the same thing. The other thing is the attack was supposed to be a suicide bombing.
So how do you kill the ‘planner’ of a suicide? Wouldn’t the suicidee be the planner?
Wait until the Taliban order Dementia Joe to free all of the the 9/11 terrorists at Guantanamo as a 20th anniversary gift.

Bingo. We have a winner. I was thinking the exact same thing.
Only a fool retaliates with drones during the tail end of a military withdrawal. There will be plenty of time for counting when the dealing is done.
Exactly...if not done in a coordinated and well thought out manner.
We could simultaneously take out the highest, or most important links in their chain of command, even though some might be sharing a meal with their families. We could, just prior to such a strike deliver messages to the rest of their chain that made clear the advisability of releasing Americans unharmed.
Of course, to do that we would need a WH that put America at the top of its obligations.
