So they have Americans to attack on 9-11 no doubt. Americans who left their passports at the Kabul embassy were shocked to learn that our embassy burn them. They’d have been better off keeping them hidden and going underground, dress disguise the works.

One element of the thinking may concern additional attacks on the airport, carried out or permitted by fractious elements of the Taliban. With a hopefully “vetted” cadre of Taliban inside the perimeter and in harm’s way themselves, such external attacks would be far less likely.
