Ghost Soldiers, Corrupt Regime: US-Trained Afghan Army Was Stronger Than Taliban... Only On Paper
CRUX ^ | Aug 16th 2021 | CRUX

Posted on 08/27/2021 9:16:08 AM PDT by Eddie01

Ever since US announced withdrawal of troop, Taliban went on a rampage to seize one district after another. A Taliban spokesperson asserted that most of these provinces were seized by them without a battle. Taliban’s rapid advance made clear that US efforts to turn Afghan military into a robust, independent fighting force have failed.

Built over 20 years, how did Afghan army collapse? Why did Afghan forces not resist Taliban? How did Kabul fall despite the well trained Afghan army?

The Play by Play of the Collapse

The Taliban overwhelmed the Afghan Army killed those in their way and provided safe passage to those that surrendered AND provided spending money to them.

The rainbow flags should have scared the Taliban off...

How many Taliban joined the Afghan Army just to receive the training and equipment, to prepare for this day?

Anyone here actually work with Afghan Troops?

I would love to know how they were recruited, trained, and in particular, how they were paid, organized - and how they were controlled. Did they live on bases? What about their families? What was done to ensure loyalty? Were units tribally/ethnically integrated or separated?

Any good sources would be appreciated.

All great questions. Not all, but some answers in the two videos I just posted.

“Soldiers are paid to fight, the rebels aren’t.”

“What does that tell you?”

“They can win!”

The Taliban subjects its soldiers to lectures about the joys of diversity, critical race theory, etc. and actively encourages gays and transgenders to join their ranks. That is why they are a superior fighting force.

Seems to me that this was a matter of will, not capacity. You can train troops until the cows come home; makes no difference if they don’t want to battle the enemy you want them to, while you slink away.

“Seems to me that this was a matter of will...”

Exactly right.

I heard Sebastian Gorka this AM on Sirius XM.
He conveyed that 40% of the ‘graduates’, on getting their last paycheck disappeared back to their tribes.
Also in the school’s the bathrooms the Afghans wipe their a$$ on the walls.
Basically he said anyone that mentions making a democracy/nation building out of Afghanistan, is delusional.
He was hot!

Sight disagreement - we didn’t “slink”, we announced and promptly bugged out on the order of the resident of the United States.

It’s a culture thing.

The Taliban can be defeated if we insert a few C-130’s of liberal lawyers in country.

Countless military members will tell you there is no room for the truth on training reviews of foreign nationals.

From what I’ve seen, the decision by the U.S. to vacate Bagram without even telling the Afghan leadership pretty much sealed the deal and led the Afghans to give up any delusions they may have had.

We should have given the Afgan army grunts iphones. That would have kept them loyal.
