John Kerry, President Biden’s special envoy for climate, is reportedly looking to push China to issue a moratorium on financing coal projects during a trip to the country next week.
The Wall Street Journal reported the plans, citing people familiar with the matter, one of whom said that U.S. officials are looking for China to declare a formal pause as Beijing has yet to fund any new foreign coal plants or investments this year.
2021 is the first year Beijing has not launched new funding for foreign coal projects since 2013, when it launched its Belt and Road Initiative focused on developing global infrastructure to connect East Asia in new ways to areas in the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

We can do that too.
But just not to the exclusion of coal.
Also, gasification rocks,
I have gas where I live for the first time.
It’s awesome for cooking.
I’m all for varied electric generation, but GenIV nuclear doesn’t seem to be discussed much.
ha ha ha ha ha ha
War Hero is still shooting his silly mouth off in public, eh?
ha ha
what a waste of hot air he is
lets not build them let china do it. let the folks who dont give a crap about the environment......what a misguided policy.
the USA deserves to rot.... our leaders are so f’ing stupid
We should be opening and upgrading coal plants.
Horsey out of the barn.
For at least the last five years “we” have been closing coal fired power plants faster than tiny peaker gas plants have been built.
Coal fired plants and substantial gas plants produce base load. That is the power that builds a power grid. The power grid is power available 24 7 365 able to meet any demand. We are now in a situation that literally demands more baseload.
The margin within the grid itself between meeting demand and brownout/blackout is much closer than at any time in history in my opinion. It cannot be anything other just based on reduced coal shipments and the closure and dismantling of coal fired plants.
All of the above driven by insane environmentalists against fossil fuel of any kind, their political benefactors like John effing Kerry and a Federal Government working hand in hand with those wishing to destroy what God and the American people have built over the more than 200 years of our history.
An underlying issue with EVs is that the same people who may be most rabid about everyone driving them are also the same people who will fight tooth and nail to prevent expanding the power grid to support them.
The mystique of EVs taps into the magical thinking of too many people, the same sort of thinking that makes socialism seem reasonable, capitalism rooted in voluntary participation seem tyrannical, and so forth.
Some time ago a fellow was getting grief from his HOA about the need for a fence in front of his trash cans … so he built a fence of five boards where the middle board was much taller than the rest.
That’s how you take a stand.
As for the Watermelon Greens, as I sometimes say, some folks just plain need offending.
Rev your engine when next to an EV at a stoplight.
I can’t afford a home generator but if I could I could also afford a gasification unit for it.
It doesn’t matter if the horse seems to have bolted if the technology still exist.
Haha horseface, you funny guy!
Will this guy never just shut up !!!
Keep GO AWAY PLEASE !!
You are a disaster.
I work in electrical distribution so I understand numerous issues.
For me, I have more work than can be accomplished until death.
Kerry never did anything to help this country. He is a traitor from the Viet Nam period along with Jane Fonda. I would not trust him in any way. He is a slime bucket.
Lurch is such a jackass.
“Job security” is a wonderful thing.
Aside: it’s a shame we cannot distribute wisdom / common sense the way we can electricity.
If we could though the moment of a billion (or so) face palms might cause tremendous concussions … er, repercussions.
The facepalms would equal Tunguska in 1908...
John Kerry, the climate hypocrite. Best quote I heard about him: John Kerry doesn’t have a private jet to fly to climate conferences. John Kerry flies to climate conferences to have a private jet.
The hardest part from the Chinese side will be keeping a straight face when they say no.
