Thanks for this. It’s what I suspected.
Why not call the Taliban and tell them that there is some hostages there?
From the article:
“said they had traveled there on special visas for US military service.
They had gone to the country to visit their extended relatives, including their grandparents.”
Do these two sentences make any sense at all?
Summer trip? Why not North Korea?
I hear the beaches are nice this time of year.
Somehow, I don’t have any sympathy for them.
In fact, it might be a good thing if they don’t make it back.
Why are they calling them “students” instead of “family members”? It’s the author wants us to think that these “students” are on some kind of school trip to generate sympathy. Not that they are a bunch of Afghans going back to visit relatives....which is kind of weird anyways for a big group to do that at once.
The adults were interpreters or some other support for our military. The military authorized their visa.
Yes, they still have parents and grandparents in Afghanistan.
It is possible they worked for other “agencies” and there was another reason to go there. I don't know, am not going to speculate.

Take note, there are elements of the Northern Alliance still supportive of the West and the US. Massoud’s fighters are still in the mountains. With our air support they kicked the Taliban's a$$.
So, not all afghans are Muslim and some of the Muslims in Afghan don't want to live under the Taliban.
I don't trust the judgment of the State Department. In general I trust our military a lot more (except for those who are corrupted politically). Some of the CIA are knowledgeable and effective, some of them are outright subversive. Unfortunately it has been that way since their processor, the OSS, existed.
Gator just when I don’t think you can top yourself, you do it again! Brilliant!
Exactly I am all out of cares this week
I make really good pizza.
Ledo’s may be the benchmark, have never eaten it.
Neither my wife or I get excited about eating out.
We are often disappointed, it is much worse since the Covid crap. Even really good restaurants have slipped badly since Covid.
She and I are both excellent cooks. I share the kitchen with her every day. Our approach is different, but we both make excellent food.
We’ve only been married a year. My first wife died in 2018, after 47 years together. God blessed me again and I am starting over at 73. I thank him every day for what he has done for us.
Nope. Just being sarcastic.
Anyone who purposely visits a third World shithole War zone (especially with the Leftist dimwits running our Country) without being sent there under Military Orders needs to have their heads examined.
You and others here disagree, so be it.
Before you ask, I have no interest in reading the Article.
Hope those people get out alive, but I wouldn’t bet the Farm on it.
their problem...who the HELL vacations in Afghanastan???????
(You) You and others here disagree, so be it.
(Me) What???????
Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride is a bit wilder over there.
Okay. That makes sense. As far as some Afghans are not Muslim, yeah, a whopping .3%.
Please read the article at the link.
I did not write the article or the title.
These are families that have parents and grand parents in Afghanistan.
They were there on military passports.
I’m not speculating past that. I simply don’t know.
Give me a few moments to find my very small violin.
I guess we agree then. My mistake. Apologies.
