Canada’s minister for women and gender equality, Maryam Monsef, faced a torrent of criticism Wednesday after she referred to the Taliban as “our brothers” in a plea to ensure safe passage for thousands looking to flee Afghanistan.
The “cultural reference” to the new regime drew criticism from some, amid ongoing scrutiny of Canada’s response to the Afghan crisis.
The Taliban have swept Afghanistan in recent weeks and Canada, along with its allies, have been rushing to help scores of people there escape what’s feared to be a violent and oppressive new regime.
The Liberals have been dealing with the crisis in Afghanistan since the beginning of the federal election campaign and have faced questions daily about efforts to help people flee.
“I want to take this opportunity to speak to our brothers, the Taliban,” Monsef told a virtual news conference Wednesday. “We call on you to ensure the safe and secure passage of any individual in Afghanistan out of the country.”
Monsef was asked by reporters to clarify whether her words represented a softening of Ottawa’s position on the Taliban, which is listed as a terrorist organization in Canada.
“In terms of the terminology, if you go to masjids across the country, Muslims refer to each other as ‘brothers and sisters,’” said Monsef.

Deep pathology is on display here. Like the vapid, disturbed women who swooned over the brutal, amoral thug Andrew Cuomo, there are many women who are infatuated with the brutal, barbaric medieval Taliban who strut around with guns and openly subjugate and abuse woman. These women at their core are masochistic and throw themselves at such men, wanting to be dominated and punished.

I think clueless is the basic analysis here, an attempt to sound woke at an inopportune moment, cannot help her party in the election as it sounded off even to the tone-deaf Canadian media.
In private she probably looks down on the Taliban as primitives and male chauvinists, but the comments were a feeble effort to charm the snake — strange how people that out of touch can rise up to levels of power and influence but I see it happening in all western countries. The progressive ideology warps reason to the extent that we are now in a situation where the inmates rule the asylum, and it’s no worse here than there. We’re all in this brave new world together, it would seem.
I always wondered why some women, seem to be attracted to “bad boys?” I think some enjoy living on the edge, with American gang bangers, and enjoy the adrenaline rush that comes with it. I think you are right. The same type, who love gang members, love the Taliban, for the same reasons.

The Taliban are not worthy of the term “Medieval”. They are Stone Age savages with machine guns. The West has lost its great historical leverage. It’s insane! The Judeo-Christian Ethic has literally defined and demonstrated what true greatness is. The whole of Islam is not worth a Kansas country Sunday School, and the whole of Muslim Culture isn’t worth the fingernail of A Bach or a Copeland.
