In new advice, the FCDO told anyone in the area to "move away to a safe location and await further advice". US President Joe Biden has warned of a group linked to Islamic State that is seeking to target the airport. It comes amid a race to evacuate thousands from Kabul ahead of the 31 August deadline. In the update, the FCDO warned Britons there is "an ongoing and high threat of terrorist attack", and that travelling by road was "extremely dangerous", with people alleged to have been "mistreated" on their way to the airport.

Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has told MPs that Afghans wanting to flee to Britain may be better off trying to reach one of Afghanistan's borders instead.

#Afghanistan: Due to threats outside the Kabul airport, US citizens should avoid traveling to the airport and avoid airport gates unless you receive instructions to do so. Those at the Abbey Gate, East Gate, or North Gate now should leave immediately.
Lately, reality seems like a bad acid trip from the sixties.
We will be out of there in less than 72 hours. Untenable.
Look carefully a the videos of Kabul International Airport; not a single porta john is visible. The buildup of human filth outside the gates must be astounding.

If they leave our people there and they start being executed then what, will there be enough rage in this country or will we all shrug our shoulders and say too bad?
How is it we evacuated 70,000 Afghan refugees and left out people at the rear of the line to leave. Send those people to an island, not here.
