Democrats Hit Impasse on Infrastructure Bill, Broader Spending Package
WSJ ^ | Updated Aug. 23, 2021 10:27 pm ET

WASHINGTON—House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) and a group of centrist House Democrats worked to break a deadlock Monday night over the party’s legislative strategy, as leaders tried to unify the party’s rival wings.

The fight centers on Democratic leaders’ plans to yoke together two pieces of legislation: a roughly $1 trillion infrastructure bill that the Senate passed earlier this month with bipartisan support and a $3.5 trillion package of healthcare, education and climate policies that lacks GOP backing and could take months to complete.

Earlier this month, the group of nine centrists said they would vote against the $3.5 trillion budget blueprint—the first step toward advancing the broader budget bill—unless the House votes first on the infrastructure package, sending it to President Biden’s desk. Meanwhile, liberal Democrats have promised to oppose the infrastructure package unless it comes up after the Senate has passed the $3.5 trillion budget package, a move they see as a way to pressure centrists to support the budget legislation.

The impasse had left the path forward for both bills unclear in the House. Democratic leaders on Monday evening altered a procedural motion scheduled for a vote later in the night so that if it passes the House, the $3.5 trillion budget framework would pass at the same time...

Smoke and mirrors. No one is challenging anyone. The Repukes are also a part of the show. Haven’t you figured it out yet?

Nobamacare was a tiny little appetizer at a fancy French restaurant (where one might find Gavin Newsom) compared to these monstrosities of bills. Also, in 2009-10 America was just starting its path of decline compared to circling the toilet bowl today.

Can you explain how it works with Sinema and Machin voting for the national election fraud Act?

Because I saw lots of people saying that was going to pass as they knew so much how things worked.

Funny, I see the same thing happening all over again.

Sinema and Manchin are not going to budge on the $3.5 trillion monstrosity.

Remember, they are all fighting over how to waste all the money you pay in taxes and they are not interested in spending it on anything that will improve your life, only theirs.

So the Nine ‘moderate’ democrats withstood pressure from Pelosi last night. In fact they picked up 1 more Democrat meaning 10 now oppose (and privately more) now want to separate the Infastructure and Reconciliation bills. So far the WH is against separating the bills, but Biden may fold, and request they vote on Infastructure now.

We are spending about 4 times our income. We normally spend 1.5 times our income and have for decades. I don’t see how it avoids bankruptcy.

“Don’t bet any money on it”

I’d clean up on it like with all the failed predictions about the Rats election fraud nationalization bill passing.

Manchin won’t yield to the commies as West Virginia is against them. Sinema likes being her own Senator. The two of them together can’t be beat by any Rat pressure.
