One guy ruling Afghanistan? Not so much.
The country is many scattered tribes and provinces, who are as easy to control as a herd of cats. Already the northern tribes have ejected the taliban from their provinces.
It will go back to pre-9-11 days, with warlords controlling tribal turf.

So India, is saying Russia, is going to rule Afghanistan, and that threatens India?
Did I wake up in 1830 somehow? Are the Brits about to move into Afghanistan to stop the Czar from threating the Raj?

Factionalization is good, and to the extent that there is a head poo-bah, I’d rather have the Ruskies running things than the White Hut. The Ruskies have a better grasp of Islam, to begin with.

Putin has a better hold on rationality. We can deal with someone who is pursuing the interest of his country. What no one can deal with is woke. It’s not a thing. It’s the anti-thing.
Better than having Xi’s man in charge. Or Biden’s, it would seem.
At this point, Putin in charge of Afghanistan would be a welcome change (not that its going to happen)
I suspect the Russians would arrange some kind of practical power-sharing agreement (backed up with an iron fist as needed), they would control the flood of migrants, and they would not spend $2 trillion of US taxpayer trying to give Afghanistan a “woke” society.
An old alignment vis-a-vis Afghanistan reborn - China-Pakistan, Russia-India, but the latter may actually become Russia-India plus Iran.
