Congratulations to President Biden.
Last week he gave the most effective, most honest foreign policy speech by an American president in the last 60 years.
Biden made no excuses.
And where the last three presidents kicked the can down the road, refusing to end the U.S. war in Afghanistan — even after more than 2,400 Americans died in that fight — Biden took responsibility. He shut it down.
“The events we’re seeing now are sadly proof that no amount of military force would ever deliver a stable, united, and secure Afghanistan — as known in history as the ‘graveyard of empires,’” Biden said from the White House last week.

Juan reliably gives us the Current Wisdom of the Washington midwits. Yes, the vast majority of the American people wanted us out of Afghanistan. That has nothing to do with Biden’s debacle of a withdrawal. To the extent they have a plan to deal with this mess for Biden, this is it. Say it was the popular move and blame Trump at the same time. It doesn’t look like anyone is buying it.
Williams is confabulating the logic to leave the Afghanistan war—something Trump planned and 80% of the American people want—with bungling the withdrawal to embarrass the USA, profoundly effect our allies, and give comfort and hope to Islamic terrorists and our adversaries.
It was the right decision to not have a never ending war. The problem is Biden botched the withdrawal.
