My wife has a friend like that - MBA from a top school, executive job with a big defense contractor, sweet and mild-mannered...until the topic of politics comes up, when she stridently insists that if she did not see it in the New York Time, Washington Post, CNN, the BBC...it simply is a right-wing conspiracy theory and not true.
She is hardly a Socialist, she just wants the world to be "nice" and thinks Trump was making everybody act mean.

Regrettably for a significant part of the population is the answer is “yes”. They hate America because that’s all they’ve been taught. They see this entire disaster as America’s comeuppance. In my last company my boss and two of my coworkers (women) were very well educated and live in Mass (I’m in NH). When ever an election came around all they would talk about was which one was the handsomest and they would vote for that guy. They never knew anything about their positions, just who was better looking.
