Yes, but because he had the media ready to make a big deal about it, it made an impact.

Sort of like Cesar Chavez. Some guy having hungers strikes in prison would have made ZERO impact if not for the media. he'd have just gotten really hungry until he eventually decided to eat something. Instead they name roads and highways after him in California now.
