The big news from the White House Saturday morning was that President Biden had canceled his planned trip to Delaware for the weekend.
My first reaction was a hopeful one — maybe he’s finally seen the light and realizes the Kabul situation is deteriorating at a terrifying pace.
Maybe he’s staying in the White House to help craft a plan to speed up the sluggish evacuation and push back against the Taliban chokehold on roads leading to the airport.
No, no and no.
In fact, there was no indication Biden was actually doing anything to change course in Afghanistan, or even considering modest changes to his failed policies. He just wasn’t leaving the building, probably because pollsters told him his approval ratings already are taking a hit and leaving town again during the crisis would look bad.
In that case, he might as well go to Delaware or even Disney World. If he’s not going to be an actual president now, when would he be?
Legend has it that Nero fiddled while Rome burned, but Biden isn’t that cruel.
He is, however, maddeningly arrogant and stubborn and, by putting his presidency on automatic pilot, created a calamity that jeopardizes the lives of thousands of Americans and many deserving Afghans while also humiliating the United States in the eyes of the world.
Because Afghanistan is a war we have chosen to lose, our allies everywhere have to be wondering if America can be trusted when the chips are down.
Even Democrats are expressing concerns about the president as they learn more about what the White House knew and when it knew it.

Stubborn Joe Biden...
Even the best among us will never discuss nor go for the prize. Instead, the focus will forever remain on the idiot in front of the camera.
As soon as Harris returns from her Asia trip....the talk around using the 25th Amendment to remove Joe Biden will start up. I suspect someone will meet with Joe’s wife and try to convince her to get Joe agreed to some ‘new’ health problem and he resigns in mid-September....before the 25th or impeachment can be started.
Let’s face it . . .Joe is not in charge, never was or will be. This is just a step closer to the NWO. We know from reading God’s Word how this all goes down. There are 2 choices for eternity . . .heaven or hell. I choose Jesus and invite everyone to do the same.
Doctor Jill is sure laying low — haven’t seen her on TV in public recently.
The British , French and Germans are using special forces to pull citizens out. Joe is not. Why? My conclusion is he is a traitor.
I agree. He was never in charge.
Dementia Joseph Stolen bringing the USA back to Isolationism.
It is what it is.
He is a traitor. I agree with you. But I think his seeming indifference to the fate of Americans who have been left behind goes beyond that; he’s knowingly turning his back on them, leaving them unprotected, aware that that exposes them to death at the hands of the Taliban. It’s the kind of thing Stalin would do.
As badly as the American people are screwed I’d have to say the dem party is too (not that I’m losing sleep over it). What’s waiting in the wings in the guise of Kamala is so deeply unpopular with everbody but her own mother, and even that’s a toss up. As bad as Joe is, heels up brings very little appealing qualities to the table other than the fact that she’s not Joe. Of course they might try it anyways because then she’s first female (not) black president. But dith the optics of of a scandal having installed her.
CC
He has no clue what is going on.
I suspect the rest of the US organizations there are mired in inter-organizational (State, CIA, DOD and who knows what else) and interservice and probably inter-unit rivalries, priority conflicts and operational cross-purposes. Also most likely massive multi-level micro-management from 10,000 miles away.
Many on the left are saying that everyone knew the Afghan military would not stand up without US support.
Well, everyone except Biden and his advisors who were “shocked” by how fast the Taliban took the nation.
Excellent!
Hairass went to Nam for pointers on how to plan a war exit.
I’m just shaking my head.
