KABUL, Afghanistan — Tens of thousands of people in Afghanistan waited nervously on Saturday to see whether the United States would deliver on President Joe Biden’s new pledge to evacuate all Americans and all Afghans who aided the war effort. Meanwhile, the Taliban leader arrived in Kabul for talks with the group’s leadership on forming a new government.
Time is running out ahead of Biden’s Aug. 31 deadline to withdraw most remaining U.S. troops, and the president on Friday night did not commit to extending it. He faces growing criticism as videos depict pandemonium and occasional violence outside the airport, and as vulnerable Afghans who fear the Taliban’s retaliation send desperate pleas not to be left behind.
Evacuations continued, though some outgoing flights were far from full because of the airport chaos, Taliban checkpoints and bureaucratic challenges. A German flight on Friday night carried 172 evacuees, but two subsequent flights carried out just seven and eight people.

SO WHY DON’T U.S. FORCES LEAVE KABUL AIRPORT TO RESCUE AMERICANS?
The only logical reason for our dilemma is that we made a deal with the Taliban: they’ll let the airport operate, and let Americans in to fly home, but U.S. forces don’t leave the airport perimeter.
Clearly, our forces are being held to this deal by our side, while the Taliban laughs at our naivete and only permits a trickle of Americans through. And our Afghan allies don’t dare go near the airport, where they will be grabbed and murdered by the Taliban.
This was a fool’s deal. We are in a trap, and the Taliban can close the trap at any moment they choose, simply by dropping mortar shells on the runway. We are in check, with no moves. If we retake Bagram, for example, the Taliban shell the airport and all of the Americans in Kabul, citizens and military, are hostages.
Leaving Bagram Air Base before all our citizens were taken out was the worst military decision I can think of. With Bagram, we’d have Apaches flying over Kabul on patrol, helos would be taking our people from the Embassy and the airport to Bagram, and they’d be getting out of the country on a non-stop military airlift under our control.
Instead, we put all our eggs in the Kabul airport basket, under 100% Taliban control.

Zinke: “Kabul is now in danger of becoming an American killing field. President Biden’s ineptness has enabled the Taliban the capacity to shut down the small Kabul airport and hold hostage or slaughter every troop and citizen,” he said in a statement.
“We are surrounded, outnumbered, and outgunned by the weapons we left behind. The Taliban is already going door to door in the city and killing anyone they find. The Biden administration’s ‘shelter in place’ is tantamount to ‘wait to be killed’. Perhaps Iran can lend them a nuke that Obama gave them or perhaps another terrorist payoff of 1.4 billion cash. Commander in weakness. Pathetic.”

Only thing that makes sense - the Taliban tell our boys what they can and cannot do and have access to 10,000 or more American hostages to enforce the rules.

The American people must now rise vocally, with one powerful voice and demand that Democrat, Joe Biden & Democrat, Kamala Harris be impeached or removed from office immediately. Exactly - told to claim they worked with us and were our ‘friends’. This is unreal!
The 6,000 brave young American Marines and soldiers that Biden deployed at the last moment without Bagram are now at the tender mercies and whims of the Taliban. They can close Kabul airport whenever they choose. How will they be resupplied and withdrawn? There may be many power drunk Taliban who have lost many relatives and friends, who want one last crack at the “infidels”.
The American military finds itself in a situation not unlike that facing General Mac Arthur on Bataan in April 1942.
The next two weeks may be astonishing times for the American people.
These concerns have been echoed by Germany and Switzerland, the latter of which said the situation at the travel hub has "deteriorated significantly in the last few hours".
Germany said the "security situation at the airport is still extremely dangerous and access to the airport is often not possible".
Although it is not clear what exactly has led to these warnings, witnesses have reported “absolute pandemonium” outside the airport as people crush together in a bid to access flights.
If I were the Taliban, I would simply have the USA pay a ransom for each person wanting to leave.

Then we need to continue to pour troops in to the Kabul airport. We may need around 20,000 troops. Then we will tell the Taliban that people must have access to the airport and the Taliban cannot interfere with their movement. Or we’ll attack them at midnight.

This is what happens when an illegitimate presidency is allowed to stand.
Um, that won’t work. The Taliban will use our own equipment and wipe out the airport with the troops in it.
