Inflation signals climbed in August even while the pace of growth in manufacturing unexpectedly slowed in August, according to a survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
The Philadelphia Fed’s survey of manufacturers showed the current activity index slipping from 21.9 to 19.4 in August, the regional Fed bank said Thursday.
Economists had forecast an increase in the index to 25.
Yet the slowdown in the pace of growth did not slow down price increases. To the contrary, the price indexes climbed in August.

Unexpectedly? Anyone who didn’t expect this should have their economics degree revoked.
There’s only one cause of inflation, inflation simply being the money supply exceeding the GDP (Gross Domestic Product), causing the dollar to be worth less becasue of the flooded money supply (which is why prices have gone up relentless since around 1900 - the great hidden government tax).
The one cause is the Federal Treasury printing this excess money to feed the spending of the $4 trillion government beast, most of which is utterly unconstitutional.
DISMANTLE THE $3+ TRILLION UNCONSTITUTIONAL PORTION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!!!!
“Unexpectedly?” Yes indeed. Right on schedule. We are in for three and a half more years of “unexpected” economic news.
