President Joe Biden angrily defended his handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, saying on Wednesday that chaos was unavoidable and snapping when asked about horrific images of Afghans falling from planes.
'That was four days ago, five days ago,' he said, even though the images of people falling to their deaths emerged on Monday.
The combative moment came during an interview with former Clinton White House official George Stephanopoulos for ABC News.
Biden has avoided taking questions on the Afghanistan crisis for more than a week.
The White House has been on the defensive for weeks as Taliban fighters raced across the country.
And officials have struggled to explain how they failed to forecast the rapid fall of Kabul and to account for chaotic scenes at the city's airport as the embassy was evacuated.

Biden’s advisors say they were stunned at the collapse of the Afghan government and had no idea it was right around the corner; but in this interview Biden himself tells Stephanopoulos that chaos was always priced into the decision.
Neither explanation is satisfactory and it is hard to imagine another that is.
Where to begin? “Four or five days ago” . . . Monday, Tuesday, WEDNESDAY.
BUT—if four or five days is such a long time why are we still banging the drum about JANUARY 6?
Should have immediately played the clip of him from July adamantly saying "there will be no collapse."
I look for Harris to insist on a state funeral for Biden and a long period of national mourning in which it will be impolite to mention politics or human-caused disasters.

Trump was probably right that he was on something during the debates.

Even if Biden wasn’t demented, I do NOT think he would EVER have done it all properly.
Yes - but they won't air it for four or five days, so it will be accurate (at air time).
