Moscow -- Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has fled the war-torn country aboard a helicopter stuffed with money but had to leave some cash as it could not be squeezed into the chopper, according to Russian official media reports on Monday.

Taliban insurgents swept Kabul on Sunday after a sudden and unprecedented collapse of the US-backed Ghani government, prompting the president to join fellow citizens and foreigners to leave the country.

Quoting Russian embassy in Kabul, Russian official news agency TASS reported that the 72-year-old President fled Afghanistan aboard a helicopter packed with money.

"As for the reasons for the collapse of the regime, they are characterised by how Ghani fled the country. Four cars were packed with money, and they tried to cram another bag of cash into the helicopter. Not all the cash managed to squeeze in, and some of the money was left lying on the airfield," a mission employee was quoted as saying by the report.

Trump was on Hannity talking about how he didn’t like this guy - just greedy. And also how it appears that the Afghan troops were also fighting not so much for their country, but for their salary (that we paid them). And when that went away their will to fight went away as well.

Apparently those troops weren’t getting the money. One of the reasons why they capitulated so easily and quickly.

I know it's early but that right there is my nomination for post of the day. Snarky. Smart. Brief. Accurate.

If you counted up all the governments handing out cash in Afghanistan (probably twenty of them), and none talking to each other or their own country’s agencies....there’s probably over two trillion dollars in cash that floated in, and probably one-third of it was just ‘loot’ to be stolen.

I have always believed that this is the best way to travel. You get to fly above the hustle and bustle and traffic, and when you get to wherever you are going you have suitcases of cash to enjoy. Assuming they are $US and not Afghan Vyzarpnits. Or whatever the hell their currency was.

""I'm basically not a spiritual person," he confessed. But he said that after he thought deeply about the different religions he studied, he came to an important conclusion. Fundamentally he realized all religions divide into one of two major categories. There are religions of death and there are religions of life. Religions of death are the ones whose primary emphasis is preparation for an afterlife. This world and its pleasures are renounced in favor of dedicating oneself totally to the world to come. "Obviously," he added, "that isn't for me." What he respects, he continued, are religions like Judaism which stress our obligations to what we are here for now on earth rather than the hereafter."

- Ernest Hemmingway, in a discussion with three rabbis on Islam and religion in general.

Not said here but certain is the mountains of cash are in U.S. currency. Mountains of Afghan money would be worthless to transport to any other country.

American's are going to be shocked when they find out how their tax dollars were being spent on waste and corruption in Afghanistan

Washington loved pouring money into a country with no laws and no accounting because it was so easy to skim money for themselves and their cronies

If they’re US dollars, they’ll be in for a big surprise quite soon.

Should have burned most of it, with video and multiple witness evidence of that action, the treasury would replace the physical cash with an executive order by the president. That way for certain that cash doesn’t fuel terrorist purchases.
