The Jaguars released Tim Tebow on Tuesday as they trimmed their roster.
It puts a quick end to the failed experiment where Tebow was trying to convert from a quarterback to tight end under Urban Meyer, who also coached him at the University of Florida.
“Thankful for the highs and even the lows, the opportunities, and the setbacks,” Tebow wrote on Twitter. “I’ve never wanted to make decisions out of fear of failure and I’m grateful for the chance to have pursued a dream.
“Thank you to the Jaguars organization and everyone who has supported me in this journey"

Well, at least he was willing to try something, anything. Kaepernick is still waiting for a starting QB role in the NFL with an 8-digit contract.
Yeah might as well cut him....he only came off the bench and won a playoff game for the Broncos.
Not that I needed another reason to NOT go to a jags (or any nfl) game.
That was nearly ten years ago. Do you recall what happened in the next game?
don’t worry about it Tim...just God gettin’ ya off a team that’s destined for complete and utter failure anyway.
A new coach that’s never been in the nfl and a new quarterback that’s never been in the nfl....what could go wrong???
I’d be willing to give him an 8 digit contract. But a decimal point would be before the rightmost two digits.
Regardless, Tebow has more nfl experience than the jags head coach AND the starting QB Combined.
I live in Jacksonville....this is the place where players come to ruin their careers.
Its truly the gang that can’t shoot straight
Tebow is the type of player to solidify and motivate a team. to help them dig down and find more... to be more then the sum of their parts.
it’s been that way for every team he’s play on
their mistake
He won as many playoff games as the Detroit Lions in the last 50 years.
Tell that to the Jets.
Tebow can just to back to ESPN and be a well-compensated commentator for the SEC Network.
LoL!
As a QB. He looked totally lost out there as a TE.
Someone with his money, fane and wife does not need to be on a minor league baseball bus. Hey he tried the football. Now that is over fast and swift. Do the broadcasting and missionary. Enjoy your wife.
Just bought one of the last few Official Tebow Jaguars jerseys (the only size remaining is XL). Tebow’s number (85) is (was?) this commenter’s HS graduation year, which made the (exquisitely expensive) decision somewhat easier. Might end up being a collector’s item...
A smart team will give him a shot....I think he’s a good fit at tight end.
FWIW I think he Oughta wash his hands of the nfl.....they’re not exactly “Christian friendly” anyway IMO.
The London Jaguars, you mean .. The past 10 years, if not for the Browns, that team would be the laughingstock of the NFL. Now with the Browns doing better, it might be the laughingstock.
The reality is that Tebow is much older than when he was drafted as a QB; has had several injuries over the years; and was trying out at a position that he had never played. Like he said himself, it was an opportunity that didn’t work out. He seems truly gracious that the Jaguars gave him a chance. Tebow is always positive and humble. He will be fine. This experience might have shown him that his career as a top level athlete has essentially ended.
I predicted here he wouldn’t make it through camp. It was all a publicity stunt.
I love Tebow but I don’t think he had much of an effect on the Patriots.
