As of last night, the Dixie fire was approx 580,000 acres with over 6,500 folks working it and 31% contained. Horrible terrain. Steep slopes, valleys. Today's forecast is for gusty winds/red flag warnings. A good friend of ours that I play music with lives in Westwood which is a couple miles east of Chester. Fire is within a mile or so of their house. They were evac'd last week to her mom's house in Susanville. As for Chester, word is that a local logging company went out last week and bulldozed huge fire breaks around the town. Prayers up for the residents and all the folks fighting these horrific fires. The air quality index in Reno yesterday morning was 301. This morning it's 166. Rain? Nowhere in sight.

When you don’t have enough foresight and sense to clean up forest tinder and do controlled burns, you wind up burning your house down. I know the ‘environmental’ lunatics running California will not let the residents manage it, so it’s not the fault of those that live there.

This is so sad for me…we took annual family vacations to Lake Almanor and stayed on the peninsula on the lake (you can see it jutting down into the lake). We always went to the Holiday Market in Chester for our food and enjoyed the town. It looks like all the homes on the peninsula are spared, thank God. I can’t imagine how hard the firefighters in Chester worked to save the town.

I know that part of the country well... my parents owned a cabin about 25 miles from Chester.. in Mill Creek, near the town of Mineral... Now a new, lightning-caused fire is threatening both communities.

I love that area up there. In my youth, I spent many a summer at my parents’ cabin in Mill Creek, about 25 miles from Chester.

Way far from over. And winds today look to be bad and blowing in the wrong direction. From the west blowing towards Chester and Westwood. Should shift to northeast later tonight blowing it back on itself. Bad stuff. If you’ve been there, you know how difficult the terrain is.

Dixie Fire is near where the ex-college professor was arrested for setting fires. He most likely was responsible for that one, the Dixie Fire, as well.

Are authorities allowing those “save the owls” and “save the salamander” people into the flames to do their saving? Just saying, if someone is really committed to a cause, they should be willing to give their life for it.

Bad news about the winds.

We stayed at Drakesbad a few times. I hope it is spared.

I know the popped him but so far haven’t seen him accused of the Dixie fire. Not yet anyway. POS!

Only because they can’t prove it. I was providing nothing more than speculation at this point. But since they know he started many fires in that same region, I am pretty sure they are looking at him as being responsible for that fire as well.

Caldor fire in El Dorado County - 754 acres yesterday morning, 6500 acres this morning. Expecting aggressive runs of 3+ miles and spotting today due to winds. Multiple communities under mandatory evacuation.

Yup. Bad stuff. Wind at our place is 6-ish out of the NW currently. But, we’re 90 miles south of the Dixie fire. Wind forecasts for around Lake Almanor for today aren’t good either.

And guess what one of the “critical resource limitations “ is. Aviation fuel for the firefighting aircraft.

Thank you, Joe Biden.

The wind is going to take it right into another big stretch of national forest. And since they aren’t allowed to use all their fire fighting tactics in one of those, it will not be out any time soon. Good chance they will evacuate Susanville today.

Democrats and fires. They go together like Democrats/corruption, Democrats/racketeering, Democrats/perversion — you get the idea.

In Colorado there are lots of trees and large areas of woodland so there’s always a risk for fire. However, fires didn’t get to be that much of a problem until J H1ckenlooper, one of Hilldog’s main lackeys, I guess, was elected governor. Then they stopped clear-cutting and neglected the air vehicles that dropped chemicals and water on wildfires. In less than a year there were several historic fires. One of the planes crashed and those on board died; also a number of firemen were killed. (When he ran for mayor of Denver, I voted for him in a fit of temporary insanity because I believed in “climate change,” unfortunately, at that point in my life. I apologize for that again. That was one way they made us believe in climate change, right? We spend more on taxes and THEN there are still fires! CLIMATE CHANGE! I should’ve known better, however.)

Also, Hickenlooper won via cheating. I think there were at least a couple thousand votes in question on that election. It’s been a while since I looked it up. So, Democrats and fires and Democrats winning via electoral fraud is nothing new. (PS, if you can’t find anything about the election tampering that year in Colorado, don’t be surprised — the media here are completely libwad-owned.

Weird since the maps don’t indicate fire proximity to Susanville or Janesville. We should be in contact with our friends who evac’d from Westwood to Susanville last week this morning. If the communications are working.

Well, as long as you’ve now come to your senses. Many decades ago (early 70’s) I too bought some of their crap. I quickly came to my senses. LOL!

Are you following this one? It updates faster than the maps from the briefings.

The infrared shows a big run that way yesterday. It is still aways off.
