The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) on Tuesday launched joint live-fire assault drills in multiple locations near the island of Taiwan in response to recent collusion and provocations by the US and Taiwan secessionists.
The PLA Eastern Theater Command on Tuesday dispatched warships, anti-submarine warfare aircraft and fighter jets in surrounding maritime and aerial areas near the southwest and southeast of the island of Taiwan for military exercises including joint live-fire assaults, and also for testing the command troops' integrated joint operation capabilities, Senior Colonel Shi Yi, spokesperson of the command, announced on the same day.
Recently, the US and Taiwan authorities have been frequently colluding and making provocations, sending wrong signals that severely violates China's sovereignty and seriously damage peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits. They have become the biggest source of security risk in the region, Shi said.
The exercises are a necessary action taken based on the current security situation in the Taiwan Straits and the need to safeguard national sovereignty, and are a solemn response to the foreign interferences and the provocations by "Taiwan independence" forces, the spokesperson said.
The PLA Eastern Theater Command will continue to boost its war preparedness and related training, and is determined and capable of crushing any "Taiwan independence" secessionist activities and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, Shi said.

They are not exclusive alternatives. China plays the long game and are not going to do anything hasty. Instead they will leverage Biden's weakness to capture a lot more smaller islands, demand more technology transfer (which Biden will oblige), send more fentany to the USl, and undermine Taiwan in various ways. Then when the time is right, they will walk in mostly unopposed.
You won’t see Trump restored for another 3 years. 1 year of Dem. party control of Congress, followed by 2 years of control by a Dem. / anti-Trumper coalition. We can, and must, de-legitimize the election results with proper audits in the public view, and work to restore election integrity, but you won’t see this election reversed.
What will be left after this dumpster fire of an “administration?”

The more I think about this, the less I think this is about Xiden's weakness. We need to examine events going back to the Obama, and Biden was VP then. Obama/Biden allowed Afghanistan to give mining rights to China in Afghanistan. That is worth billions in rare earth elements - critical for tech manufacturing. Not only did Obama/Biden allow this to happen, he provided security to China in Afghanistan with our troops/air support.
The US is heavily dependent on Taiwan technology. For example, those F-150's people have been waiting for because there were no chips ... well, those chips come from Taiwan. If China controls Taiwan, then China controls those chips.
China adds another part of the technology supply chain by taking Taiwan. They will have the raw materials (rare earths), the tech, the manufacturing, the shipping, etc. If China wants to create shortage of an American product, it slows part of the supply chain. Meanwhile, the China produce what they want and sell it to Americans, because America can't manufacture the product.
This is hideous on too many levels. China's dominance in rare earths is no accident. China can mine to their hearts content. The leftists in America have curtailed mining operations in the US through regulations and outright prohibition of mining.
The tech supply chain is just one example of China's asperations. This is about economic and social control on many levels.
I own TSMC stock. Getting a bit worried about hanging on to it.

Taiwan is no easy target in and of itself. Nor can the US afford a “hands off” approach without losing all credibility - although it is an iffy proposition if Biden is in power.
Truthfully I think our air power combined with various standoff anti-ship missiles would quickly dominate the situation - if used.
Taiwan isn’t easily assaulted from the sea, so there is that as well.
All that said, recent times have reminded me most of the period right before WWI.
