The mood was sombre Monday in the corridors of the Pentagon, where US military personnel watched helplessly as chaos erupted at Kabul airport and privately criticized the slow pace of Joe Biden's administration in evacuating US-allied Afghans who fear Taliban retribution.
Some criticized the State Department, which has sole authority to grant visas to former interpreters and other US military support staff and their families, for waiting more than two months to begin the process for Afghans in fear of their lives. ..
...Another Pentagon official interviewed by AFP said that diplomats had tried to speed up the visa process -- but the process was too long and complicated under the circumstances....
...It was only at the end of June that the White House raised the possibility of evacuating the Afghan interpreters before the end of the military withdrawal, and asked for the Pentagon's help....

Joe knew his plan was going south over a month ago and did nothing
Incompetence and/or planned.
“said that diplomats had tried to speed up the visa process — but the process was too long and complicated under the circumstances....”
The entire Department of State needs to be disbanded. Fire all of them.

At the Pentagon??? LOL!
Many of the Generals probably voted for Biden over Trump. Well. This is what you get. Deal with the consequences.
Hey, the Taliban may have taken over Afghanistan but at least we have a military that is woke about white privilege and uses the proper gender pronounce when referring to non-binary individuals.
Congratulations SloJoe, you made the Kabul Airport look like our Southern border.
They could have least parked them in Pakistan. I hope some smart ones already drove across that border.
Are they upset at the Pentagon because they know they look bad or are they upset because they are true patriots? Methinks the former and there are few more pro military than me. I have zero love lost for Pentagon Paper Pushers.
Or taking the Admiral Boorda approach?
Yeah but at least they don’t have to deal with that awful President Trump who said unkind things about China.
AAAAA....MEN!!!!
Did they save the fag flag?
Some meetng occurred in Mar/Apr where the Pentagon folks (around 5 generals and new SECDEF) came in and sat with White House officials. They all wanted to have a plan, and continue to use Trump’s carrot-and-stick approach.
WH advisers said ‘no’. They believed all this BS that Afghanistan had matured and could handle the exit process. That whole speech in July that Biden gave....all handed to him by his own staff. It’s like they wanted him to fail miserably.
Going back over 50 years, I can’t remember a moment like this where a US President was so utterly incompetent. Biden even scores higher than Carter.
That’s what happens when your priorities are transgenders and climate change..../s
You turds have been pining for President Retard and wokeville instead of doing your jobs. That was after you caused grief for Trump and conservative citizens.
In Pakistan? Are you kidding? ISI will torture and kill every one of them. Probably with Taliban observers so they can trade observations on which techniques create the "best" screams.
Rainbow flag was lost?
