It’s laziness or just plain sloppy,I don’t care about customers crap....Too many have been hacked and no one says, hey we have to do better..They just sit and wait for the next hack victim........
Have a friend whose T-Mobile phone number was ported by a hacker to another device a couple of years ago. What a mess!!! With her phone, they could access almost everything.
I worked in IT for T-Mobile a little over a decade ago. The first project I was brought in on was the PCI project. They have an amazingly effective firewall up between the actual data and the rest of the system regarding SSN’s and card numbers. I find it hard to believe that SSN’s were hacked unless Mr. Robot was in on it.
Social engineering.
I believe Biden regime is going after individuals. First by saying Homeland security will now monitor text messaging for Covid misinformation. I believe that was really to monitor protests or organizations against mandates. So the next thing you know we hear that a company has lost control of social security numbers of all users. How much you want to bet people having ‘wrong thoughts’ and texting about them will suddenly start having all kidns of identity theft and harrassment (e.g, MAGA) all falsely attributed to the ‘hack’?
It's really hard to get software security right and CEOs won't spend the money unless their corporations are held criminally liable for data breaches.
But my personal data was stolen from the IRS !
People have that stuff on their phones ?
A decade is an eternity in IT. Lots of potential for change over that time and not all of it for the better.
Timing is everything. Exactly when did they get the leak sealed? It so happens that I was in a T-Mobile store on Saturday getting my Spring SIM card replaced. I handed them my driver’s license and should have objected when they started to take a video image. That is just nonsense.
So did they stop the leak before Saturday?
I don’t understand, I’m not with T-mobile but why would they want your SSN or drivers license #?
Why do they need retirement account numbers? It says right on the card “Not for identification.” OH! I forgot! The SSN is the universal citizen identification number, an index into a huge database that has everything about you.
As Joe Biden’s debacle unfolds in Afghanistan, China and other hoods pick up the pace to cripple T-Mobile customers at some later date, 100 million customers of their personal data.
Computer hacking should be made a capital offense
LOL they don’t even give 20 years for pre-meditated murder these days.
“Computer hacking should be made a capital offense”
This!!!
oopsie
Tear them to pieces. Really.
Yeah, but they merged with Sprint and I’ve heard *their* security was garbage.
T-Mobile got hacked and they have customer info
