Several Gold Star families say their “hearts are broken” amid the deadly and chaotic withdrawal of Americans from Afghanistan after the Taliban regained control of the country.
Speaking to Fox News on Monday, Gold Star wife Jane Horton – whose husband Christopher was an Army specialist in Afghanistan, said she feared for the US personnel and Afghans still trying to flee.
“My heart is broken, our hearts are broken as a Gold Star community,” she said.
Her father-in-law and Chris’ father, David Horton, added that the feeling among many Gold Star families was “sadness.”
“My son… laid down his life. He was killed in action. Chris was fighting for what he believed in,” he said.
“A secure Afghanistan made our nation more secure. So we’re just sad to see this. I agree, we had to leave, we didn’t have to leave this way and with things in such a disarray.”

I play hockey with some Afghan-Iraq vets in a league I help manage. They are a tight group with each other, some are still in the reserves, we usually have beers afterwards, and I listen to their stories about training, the VA, etc. One guy has pretty bad PTSD, while another has scars all over his leg and large chunk of his calf missing, but can still get around well.
Thinking about them, and present situation, makes me want to puke.
And what exactly was that?

I wouldn’t be too heart-broken.
We still support our troops no matter what.
It’s the fools who tell them what to do we don’t honor so much.
That includes at least back to Bush and his admin.
They ought to March to the White House, the Capitol and the Pentagon and scream bloody murde….oh wait, they can’t, they will be labeled as part of the “insurrrrrrrrrection…”

I have never liked Pompeo. Said so many times on FR.
I did not like a lot of people Trump chose as his advisors.
I did not trust the counsel a lot of his advisors gave him.
Feel free to fact check the info. Ask yourself why the “moderate head choppers” we have supported with weapons, $$$, and Intel in Syria are celebrating and handing out sweets at the Taliban victory in Afghanistan.
My heart is broken for them and all the families of KIA’s and the physically/emotionally wounded Vets. I’m tearing up again...best I go.
I would definitely ask those questions.
Trump did t seem to garner good staff, by and large. Lots of turnstile action indicates that.
As far as celebrations…haven’t seen that yet. All I’m seeing on FOX now is Moslems trying to get on the US planes?
