“Any country that cannot feed its own citizens cannot rule the world.”

*****

They don’t care. They feed who they need to feed.

They are gaining resources every day.

South Vietnamese air force pilot makes Houdini-like escape

A nice ending to a minor event from a very bad time.

https://www.cnn.com/2015/04/29/us/vietnam-sea-rescue/index.html

Some background:

The number of boat people leaving Vietnam and arriving safely in another country totalled almost 800,000 between 1975 and 1995. Many of the refugees failed to survive the passage, facing danger from pirates, over-crowded boats, and storms. According to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees, between 200,000 and 400,000 boat people died at sea.

Flying into my remote FOB by chopper in Northern AFG for my last deployment in 2012, it quickly became obvious to me that we were not going to have a lasting impact on this country. Too remote. Too rugged. Too tribal. Any fantasy of “killing all of the enemy” is just that, a fantasy. They slink and slither through the mountain passes with experience borne by generations. They melt into the populace. Our AFG “allies” too often proved to be enemies. My first surgical case, minutes after landing was a “green on blue”. Every door kicker I talked to who was involved with training the AFG army said they were not to be trusted. They were not competent without backup and would fold like a cheap suit on their own. The reputation of AFG as the “graveyard of empires” was well earned.

Any country that cannot feed its own citizens cannot rule the world. China still has to have imported food.

They can do what Japan did in the 30s and 40s and take it from countries they invade. Who's going to stop them? Not Biden.

We need to focus on our own Hemisphere and stay out of Muslim countries.

Yes, invading armies can be like locusts, but they will last about as long as locusts. After a season or two, they have to move on because the fields will be bare.
