Something will happen that will shock Americans into realizing that we live in a world of competing nation states, and we need to act like it.
I just hope that realization doesn’t come with the CCP’s boot to our throat.
If they can get us into some position, some strategic scarcity, where the US President has to ask them for their help, that will be the moment that the world changes forever.
The CCP will make sure that everyone in the world, especially every American, knows that they are the global superpower #1.
And with technology like it is, once they are on top they may be able to dominate the world in authoritarian CCP style for centuries, if not forever.

1) Any country that cannot feed its own citizens cannot rule the world. China still has to have imported food.
