Newsom recall: Larry Elder says he will repeal mask, vaccine mandates if he wins election

Republican Elder spoke at a church that was fined more than $1 million for defying restrictions on indoor gatherings

California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder told a mostly maskless crowd inside a San Jose church this week that he would repeal coronavirus mask and vaccine mandates imposed by Gov. Gavin Newsom – if Newsom loses next month’s recall election and Elder collects enough votes to replace him.

“This man that I’m going to defeat on September 14, he shut down the state in the most severe way than any of the other 49 governors have,” Elder told the audience, according to San Francisco’s KGO-TV. “When I get elected, assuming there are still facemask mandates and vaccine mandates, they will be repealed right away and then I’ll break for breakfast.”

Elder, a conservative radio talk show host, spoke at Calvary Chapel, whose leaders repeatedly defied indoor gathering restrictions last year and were fined more than $1 million, according to FOX 2 of the Bay Area.

“I know how difficult it is to run a business,” Elder told the crowd. “Many of them never succeed. Those who do succeed, often run on very thin profit margins, often from payroll to payroll. A third of all small businesses in California are now gone forever because [Newsom] ignored science.”

Attendee Lynn Schultz told KGO she likes Elder.

“He’s a business guy, he’s well-known, he’s well-spoken and a lot of his ideas will fit well with the state,” she said.

Lisa Disbrow said, “We have an opportunity to get rid of a tyrant who just yesterday threw everyone connected to education under the vax bus,” referring to Newsom’s announcement that teachers will be required to get the vaccine or get tested regularly.

California has the most corrupt election machine in our Republic. Newsom will win the recall no matter how many votes they need to steal. The RATs cannot afford to lose California.

I donated a few bucks to Elder and hope he wins, but since I live in PA not CA I cannot legally vote for him.

Polls are pretty much useless but I still wonder what the mood of those Kali residents that still go to work is today.

Can even the libs still want this fool newsom, to remain gubbernor?

I really worry about voter fraud in this hell hole.

Elder is based in Orange County...largest county in CA...and will take the vote after New-scum is booted off.

I’m deciding between Elder and Kevin Kiley. Kiley is focused on students and keeping schools open which is my #1 priority (I have a high schooler and a college student). They both would get rid of the mask and vaccine mandates. Presumably both would be better than Newsom at everything: fires, water, electricity, crime, the homeless, the economy.

Interestingly it seems there are at least 4 candidates on the recall ballot named Kevin.

We’ll see. To pronounce defeat before a contest begins is a good way of being defeated.

If they were able to so successfully steal the 2020 presidential election why would anyone think they’d allow a republican to win in California? Especially when they already have mail-in ballots to begin with. There’s no way Elder will win. There were boat parades, miles of truckers across America with Trump flags on them, people would stand in lines of miles down the roads to get into Trump rallies and we can see what happened. Anyone that thinks the 2022 midterm elections or Elder in California, or any future election will be fair in any way is completely in denial of reality. When Trump lost it was the end of our Republic and the beginning of the totalitarian state, which is what we are seeing right now. Period.
