Which troops ? What weapons and transport ? What RoEs ? Does a list of Afghan evacuees exist ? Is the airport secure ? Are enough aircraft available to evacuate all ? Can we be sure the are no shoulder SAMs in Taliban possession ? These questions and more need to be answered or at least asked before committing forces. Hopefully contingency plans have been prepared in the past and are now being addressed.

The Taliban is not a disciplined force like the North Vietnamese regulars who took Saigon. So if some Taliban guy wants to fire at an American evacuation helicopter, he’s gonna take aim and fire away.
