Five victims, including 3-year old girl, identified in deadly UK mass shooting

Authorities on Friday identified the five people gunned down by a crazed killer in the UK — including a dad who witnesses said died while trying in vain to shield his 3-year-old daughter.

Little Sophie Martyn and her adopted father, Lee Martyn, 43, were among those slaughtered by twisted 22-year-old Jake Davidson during Thursday’s bloodbath, Devon & Cornwall police said in a statement.

Witnesses saw the dad trying to flee the gunman with his daughter, who was pushing a toy stroller, according to the Daily Mail.

“There was no noise or screaming, they were just running,” a witness told the outlet. “This bloke with the gun stopped about 15-feet from them, raised his gun to his shoulder, and shot the man in the back.”

“He fell on to his daughter, protecting her even though he may have been dying.”

Davidson “walked up and stood over them and fired from inches away to finish them off,” the witness said.

True, but England doesn’t allow guns.

How could this have happened?

They need tighter gun control laws.

The murder weapon was a shotgun legally owned by the shooter.

The gun was legally owned, but the scandal now is that he had his licence and gun confiscated last year following an accusation of assault and both were returned to him a few weeks ago. His mother (who he killed) had been pleading with the Police and social services in the past few months to get her son treatment. All a bit of a mess.

The Police are now trying to understand why they returned the gun to him - and ignored the warning from his mother.

The “lessons to be learned” and new gun laws will be interesting.

Shotguns, together with various classes of sporting rifle, have never been banned and are widely owned.

Apparently this guy was an incel.

Always CCW. The governments of the world who makes laws against CCW are the enemy and so are the people who vote for said governments.

I get there are those who think make more gun laws and I get that the laws there are already very strict. I know he had a legal gun and that he had his licence and gun confiscated last year following an accusation of assault and both were returned to him a few weeks ago.

But there is a law against murder.

“England” ? You mean the UK.

In the UK shotguns, together with various classes of sporting rifle, have never been banned and are widely owned.

Sporting and vermin control guns will never be banned, the rural shooting lobby is too strong. More likely is a further tightening of licensing regulations (this guy had a legitimate firearms licence, apparently)

Guns aren’t banned in the UK. You just need to be a vaguely competent and sane individual in order to hold a licence. Also, the case for semi-automatic or fully automatic firearms for personal defense is too weak to be worth arguing. We don’t have a natural right to be that heavily armed so it’s extremely rare for a person to go postal while in possession of legal firearms. Criminal gangs use illegal guns, but by and large they only target each other or use them for show. They’re more likely to do a drive by than use them in the street so even open carry wouldn’t be that helpful. By the time you’re ready to shoot back they’ve driven round a bend and you can’t hit them anyway.

Every time I’ve been confronted with a gun in face to face situations it’s been posturing. So “guns are for show, knives for a pro” applies. You just stay calm and 99% of the time nothing will happen.

Every so often someone falls through the gaps, or just snaps. You can’t legislate against that but in this case the authorities definitely screwed up.

How many spree shootings like this has the UK had in the last 40 years? Six at most I think. This guy, Derrick Bird (Cumbria), Thomas Hamilton (Dunblane), and Michael Ryan (Hungerford).

If you include low body count, you can add Robert Sartin (Monkseaton) and Raoul Moat (Northumbria).

The police gave him his gun back...

Why was Incel killer Jake Davison given his gun back? Were his mother's fears about his mental health ignored? Why were his social media posts not acted on? The questions police HAVE to answer over Plymouth massacre

Because the left wants total blanket gun confiscation and events like this are the fuel they use to con people into demanding it without them being aware of the consequences of being part of a disarmed populace; being at the mercy of the police state.
