AEG Presents, a global leader in concerts and live events, announced today that it will be requiring proof of vaccination for entry into its owned and operated clubs, theatres, and festivals. The decision comes on the heels of the dramatic surge in COVID-19 cases as the delta variant spreads throughout the United States. AEG Presents is either an owner or partner in such iconic venues and festivals as New York's Webster Hall and Brooklyn Steel, The Roxy and El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, The Theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas, Firefly Music Festival, Day N Vegas, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and Coachella Music & Arts Festival, among others.
The vaccination policy, limited only as required by law, will be in full effect nationwide no later than October 1, 2021. Several venues have already been following local government vaccination mandates, with others anticipated to come in the weeks leading up to October 1. The date was chosen specifically to allow time for any eligible unvaccinated ticketholders and staff to reach fully vaccinated status should they choose to do so. Leading up to October 1, AEG Presents will be implementing a policy of showing proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours of show date where permitted.
"We have come to the conclusion that, as a market leader, it was up to us to take a real stand on vaccination status," said Jay Marciano, COO of AEG and chairman and CEO, AEG Presents. "Just a few weeks ago, we were optimistic about where our business, and country, were heading. The delta variant, combined with vaccine hesitancy, is pushing us in the wrong direction again. We realize that some people might look at this as a dramatic step, but it's the right one. We also are aware that there might be some initial pushback, but I'm confident and hopeful that, at the end of the day, we will be on the right side of history and doing what's best for artists, fans, and live event workers."
Added Shawn Trell, COO and general counsel, AEG Presents: "Certain states' regulations may override our mandate, or a few artists may not want to immediately get on board with the plan, but we know that using our platform to take a strong position on vaccinations can make an impact. The message we want to send is simple and clear: the only way to be as safe as possible is to require everyone to be vaccinated. And we're confident that others who haven't been ready to make this full commitment yet will follow our lead."
The vaccination policy will be implemented as an open-ended one, with any changes or reversals informed by updates relating to infection rates, transmission data, variant developments, and local and federal regulations.
"Our hope is that our pro-active stance encourages people to do the right thing and get vaccinated," added Marciano. "We've already had to deliver bad news about JazzFest this week; I think everyone can agree that we don't want concerts to go away again, and this is the best way to keep that from happening."
Several hard rock and heavy metal artists have canceled shows or whole tours as the concert industry is rethinking its approach to live shows while the delta variant of the coronavirus is spreading nationwide.
A number of venues around the country have already instituted policies requiring proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test to attend shows.
Earlier in the month, concert promoter Live Nation announced it will honor touring artists requests to require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test for attendees at concert venues.
Combining the power of the live event with a focus on true artist development, AEG Presents is a world leader in the music and entertainment industries. There is no “full vaccination”.
There will never be a “full vaccination”.
In 1988, The Who went on tour to perform very limited concert tour where they played the entire Tommy album. My oldest and best friend and I went early in the AM to ticketmaster to get in line. They gave out wristbands to people in line, and then drew a number to decide who was in front of line.
We got lucky, or so we thought, and ended up #2 in line. But then after hours of waiting, some other guys we knew showed up. They popped open a trunk full of wrist bands. They asked what the number was, then gave their cars full of friends and handed out wristbands that cut the line. They got all the tickets and by the time we got to the window it was sold out. I imagine this same scenario played out across the city. These guys got paid by the ticket scalpers to cut the line, and were given a trunk full of wrist bands to make sure they would always be in the front of the line.
After that, I lost my joy for concert going. I’ve been to plenty of shows since of course but I’ll never forget what a rigged system it is. And it has only gotten worse in many many ways since.
Some I know in this age group have bitten the bullet and gotten vaccinated just for this reason. Others are holding off, but pressure to be with friends at these events becomes daunting.
Others are facing this requirement at their jobs, places they've worked at for a while and not something they want to give up easily, especially if they've advanced in the company.
So easy for the keyboard warriors to tell these people to find another job, move to another city/state, or find other activities to entertain themselves. Most can't or don't want to go through the trouble.
These people are going to be damaged permanently unless this nonsense is halted.
Good thing the only people I want to see in live concert are dead.
BOYCOTT!
Collapse their asses.
Combined General and Coronavirus PING!
The “vaccinations” are all failures. They have caused more death and injury in six months than all other vaccines combined in over 30 years. And now they are quickly losing their effectiveness. It is a bunch of nonsense. The wrong path has been followed. The variants are becoming less dangerous but more contagious. This means that they are evolving into something more and more similar to the flu or common cold.
Currently it is the vaccinated who are more of a risk to other’s health. This was amply demonstrated by the “Texas delegation”. Nearly everyone who came into contact with them became ill... and they were all fully vaccinated. The only ones who made my wife and I ill with “Delta variant” symptoms in the last year were relatives who stayed with us who were fully vaccinated.
Nobody said it’s easy. I’m moving to Florida in November to get out of New Sarajevo (central Maryland), and I could lose my job as a result. I’m doing it anyway.
As Matt Bracken put it, MOVE OUT OF THE BLUE STATES!!!
So tell your friends to pound sand. You don't need to GO TO A CONCERT, unlike the grocery, hardware, etc. Treat them like they were Woke-A Cola!
However, as I'm apt to rant on this issue...AEG isn't the only gig in down (no pun intended). There are COUNTLESS venues with really good live music, and oodles of unsigned bands, waiting for people to support them.
Go to https://bandcamp.com and search under your preferred genre. There is lots of good music, and they're not all woke, whiney leftists. Instead of letting the entertainment-industrial complex telling you what is good, we can make up our own minds.
And for what it's worth, not everyone has been sucked into this votex. Clapton and a few others have explicitly said they're not playing where shots are required.
Yes, I fully understand that many people can't retreat and I'm not proposing a full retreat. But I AM recommending, that some sidestepping be employed.
They started this fight, not me. But I will set the terms of the battle. And for what it's worth, people have re-discovered fake documents.
Wow. This guy must get a lot of junk mail, that’s a lot of lists to be on.
They checking to see if people have their flu shots? Smallpox?
And the Southern Border’s still open
I wonder if he’s getting solicitations from Anthony Weiner.

If you are into 70/80/90 style rock, check out The Warning. They are a trio of sisters from Monterrey Mexico who got their start around 2012 when they uploaded a cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman (when they were 14 - Daniela/Lead Guitar and vocals, Paulina 12/Drums and Alejandra 9/Bass). It’s over 22 Million views so far.
They were recently chosen to do a remake of that cover on Metallica’s new Blacklist album this year. Since then, they’ve released an EP, 2 studio albums - all as independent artists funded by patreon and kickstarter, and just signed with Lava records for their new album due out this year.
They play some kick-ass rock - all but one song in English. Just search for The Warning on youtube and prepare for a deep rabbit hole.
Pffft simple, don’t go.
They really do think they’re important...
For the older crowd, most of these vaccination mandates have very little impact on them
