Patches--Dickie Lee (1962)
I can't imagine why this record sold even a single copy, since its protagonist is a credulous poltroon, yet it sailed close to the top of the charts at the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Dawn (Go Away)--The Four Seasons (1964)
I hope Dawn takes the advice of this uninspired, under-achieving beta male and goes away.

Jerry Cole offers a counter-example to these losers, a young visionary who is goal-oriented, motivated, ambitious, and determined to pursue the American dream. And this was far and away the best of the bunch musically, even though it didn't sell nearly as well as the first two.

Midnight Mary--Jerry Cole (1963)
